Anyway, as it stands we have no problem scoring goals. And the Werner rumours are nonsense according to James Pearce.

The real pity on the front 3 cover issue is Origi who really should have made a spot for himself as back up certainly as LW & CF & possibly even RW but seems not to have the drive to really make it.
Personally I think Ings will be with us next season and we will look to loan out Solanke. Of course we will also have Sturridge back raring to go <whistle>.
We need to remember £50m has already been spent from next seasons transfer budget.

How do we know what the budget is?
There have been wildly different figures bandied about over the last couple of seasons, and I thought our net spend under Klopp was in the black?

Do we? Was it out the forthcoming budget? Was it out last summers budget? Do we even set season budgets?

tbf I don't think Solid suggested we knew what the budget is. His point is whatever the budget, we've already spent £50m. Can't argue with that.

its just the people saying we need to buy a first choice LB, CB ,CM, plus back up forward whilst not selling anyone who we command a decent fee. As you pointed out to MITO we aren't financed by a country therefore we have to assume that finances will be kept within reason .
Transfer budget may balance out under JK but we haven't exactly been declaring profits very often since FSG took over.

Don't think we're desperate for LB now: Robbo is decent and solid, if not world class. RB is more urgent, as Clyne has been out for a year and neither TAA or Gomez are naturals there. Hopefully we can start playing Gomez next to VVD next season at CB, though we do really need to replace Lovren and even Matip - this has been his worst season so far. A DM would be cromulent. :emoticon-0148-yes:

I agree that we can't keep up with the really big spenders, and we shouldn't be trying to either. It's why I think Klopp is the right choice of manager for us. He's not a miracle worker, but he gets results without chasing the big names all the time. He will spend, because you have to in this crazy market, but he does seem to have a definite purpose to his spending - building the team he wants rather than just splashing out on every established star he can get his hands on.
Whether it's enough to compete with super-rich clubs we'll have to see.
However, we're certainly not poor and I'm sure he'll go for the players he wants - it's just that they might not be the ones that the journos and the fans are always calling for.

Really? The talk was that we had a £200m budget last year, excluding the sale of Coutinho. But even if it was £100m, we spent £40m on Salah, £35m on Ox, £10m on Robbo, £50m on Keita and £75m on VVD. That's £210m? We 'got' £140m for Ford (though being Barca, that'll come in dribs and drabs over the next decade), so even without all the other little sales of squad players, isn't that £30m under budget BEFORE we go into this season?

We can't keep up with City and United. Everyone else, assuming Roman doesn't start spending silly money any more, is now within reach, including a wealthier Spurs.

i just go on what we actually spend rather than what the press reckon we have available. Surely we only pay the Keita money when he is officially our player ,excluding the extra we lobbed RBL to get exclusivity , so that will be out of this seasons budget ?

Rotation? Doesn’t mean they’ll sit on bench for 75% of season. Perk of having flexible front 3 is that each can play shy role. If we have a player that can play like Salah wife or central.

Mesnd not jist 1 or other between bobby and new player. You can rotate Mane Salah Firm like we did earlier in season. That front 3 can’t play every week and options when we rotated weren’t great.

    I CAN!

    i just did in fact.

Lets just look at what i said one more time.

If mane is injured firmino has to go wide and solanke or ings come in and this is cos coutinho is gone.

This is acceptable? We just accept ending up well off the pace next year if this were to happen?

I am not reading anyone saying why timo werenr instead of a wide forward. We can have a discussion about flexibility and making the most of a slightly smaller squad than city if you like! thats not what i am hearing on this side.

Here is what we have again

GK: Karius, mingolet, ward.... are those two keepers happy per your comment. No.. they are not
Defenders- won't repeat but ther eis clearly 2 players for every position
Midfield: Same clearly 2 players for every position in a midfield 3.

    LW, Mane, firmino as cover
    St: firmino, ings, solanke
RW: salah... ox/lallana at a push (but totally different players.)

This is simply in my view not a wise situation given that injuries and suspensions and other things are inevitable.

So my question was: would you accept LFC next september finding firmino or salah or mane out for 3 months (lallana and clyne show that can happen) and LFC playing Solanke or ings for 3 solid months (if they could even)

Now to answer your question: You are assuming a "top quality striker" means timo werner or thomas lemar i suppose? And then that they "sit on our bench and await thier chance"

My view on this is different. If we spent 100mil or whatever silly number the press make up on a forward they in my view shoudl arrive early, go through preseason and have every right to upset the apple cart of our front 3 are our front 3. We could arrive next agust and suddenly realise that this magic front 3 is now a fab 4 again (just for example)

    So how about talking flexibility:

We had sturrdige, firmino, coutinho, mane last year. We lost mane and ended up struggling. thats a fact
This year we had salah, firmino, mane and coutinho and we playing all 4 at times. We now have lost coutinho. Sturrdige is gone but ings is coming back in. If anything we've lost flexibility then

So what should we do? Buy 2 forwards or buy 1 who can play a couple of positions? If its money we are thiking of then maybe LFC will buy a lemar for LW and LW type role who knows.

Firmino gives us flexibility in formation of his position though he is much less effective tied to a wing
    Mane can play either wing
Salah could play no 9 no bother or left or right. He's ideal in terms of flexibility.

Ings for me would be at best a 3rd striker option or maybe play lw for a few games as a willing runner.
solanke for me is a must loan out and get him moving on his career
Brewster (in original conversation) is nowhere near ready and is barely an u23 player

IMO With ox and lallana as players you could stick in for 20mins here and there was RW we probably need the one player in to replace coutinho.

I would prefer 2 but maybe thats fantasy football :bandit:

whispers: who says a new signing would spend 75% on the bench.

really whispers: remember 2009 with only torres and gerrard and how we lost that chance due to injures?

I Agree with you. get someone who can do a couple roles as that what klopp will buy anyway. every single player he has bought bar robertson plays multiple positions.
