That's some schedule Filey, two games a week for four successive weeks, most players higher up the league ladder would be crying about that.

A few years back, more than a few actually 25 or so,when Ken Richardson had Brid Town moving up the leagues and going to Wembley twice Town were playing three times a week. Steve Brentano was on £280 a game plus the wages from his job. Others were on similar deals, with hefty bonuses for goals. It was coming to some money with gates of 300 or 400. He then started telling the manager not to pivk certain players on high money for unimportant games. At least one resigned because of this.
Then after winning the FA Trophy at Wembley he got in a row with the council over the ground, which they owned, (he had already had the other club which had ground shared for over 50 years forced to leave).
He threatened to take the club out of the town if he didn't get his way. Sounds eerily familiar, doesn't it?
In the end he withdrew fundi g and the club plummeted down the leagues. At least he ended up in jail for arson and financial shenanigans.

I think Brenner was on the highest wages. He made more than hecever did with City. Top scorer Bob Gauden was coining it with goal bonuses. It was enlightening to see them counting the notes stuffed in envelopes after games. Only made possible by the murky dealings of a dodgy chairman of course.

With the league cup and the north riding cup Scarborough have had a few 3 games in a week matches.

Sellers, Stubbins and Garry Brattan won't have been far behind, I reckon. All three brilliant players.

It was indeed a good team. Brattan was good. Though Bob Gauden was excellent and could have playedcat a higher level. Someone said City approached Sellers but he turned them down as the wages on offer were way below what he got from his job and playing for Town.

City definitely did want to sign him. He was at Scarborough and worked at jacksons bakery and was on more money. <laugh>

Don't remember gauden. They had a left back who Appleton took to Swansea who was really good too.

Is Gary Brattan any relation of the Luke Brattan that was born in Hull but is on the books at Man City? Think they got him from Australia.

Gary was an apprentice at City with BrianMarwood. Before been released. Should easily have made it. God knows why some players have careers and others don't.

He did have a career, though not at a very high level, he emigrated to Australia and became captain of Heidelberg United (2nd tier I think).

Gauden was what would be called an old fashioned centre forward. One of those who had a kna k of being in the right place when a ball was bobbling about and became free. Had a powerful shot as well. Played for quite a number of clubs as he was always in demand as a regular goal scorer. Played for the Burton Albion team managed by Neil Warnock which won the FA Trophy. Played for Scarborougn, and I think Gainsborough Trinity and Altrincham amongst others.

Great to read these posts people have added on here....

Before this season I had been to 2 Scarborough games in the past v wolves and v Burnley

Also went to a Bridlington Town game away at Gresley in a cup game years ago

All 3 with a mate from Scarborough.

That's the only times I had been to Scarborough or Bridlington Town as a rare change from Hull City .

I have never seen any other sport live besides football...

No one's more surprised then me how much I am liking going to Scarborough Games the standard of football is really good usually .

Though v Hyde at home in the fa cup Scarborough played boot it in the air and Hyde won every ball in the air having a team of giants , hence Scarborough 0 Hyde 2 and Scarborough missing out on FA Cup round 1

( It's Radcliffe they play on Saturday at home )
