Maybe not. It’s not long since our home crowds were 25k and club lost money on that. If Orta and his mistakes are kept I can see crowds slipping back to that level. Rad can’t afford that

That money is Rads keep you alfloat money cheap players on long contracts are easily funded from attendance monies but where will the transfere kitty money come from ?
Your DoF that's his role bring and buy sales that what he gets paid to do <ok>

With regards to recruitment there has always been the age old argument of whether you assemble a side to get you out of the championship or one to hit the PL running.

My assessment is we have fallen somewhere between the two and therefore achieved virtually nothing in terms of building season on season.

So are we going to play teams off the park as TC seemed to want to do last Autumn or do we adopt the more traditional British style we see being played at Cardiff, Derby, Bristol City, Millwall etc.

It's noticeable under Heckingbottom that there has been a shift back to that traditional way of playing but we don't have the necessary players to be able to beat the teams who recruited with that style in mind.

Who should we recruit in your opinion?
For me Kieran Westwood , Alex McCarthy
Sean Morrison, James Chester , Aidan Flint
Ryan Woods, Sergi Canos, Ross Wallace , Anthony Knockheart,
Lucas Joao, Glenn Murray, Lewis Grabben, Gary Hooper.
I know wages are an issue but what I'm saying is these are the sort of players off the top of my head we should be targeting. All with championship experience ,mainly British players sprinkled with a bit of foreign flair. Let's see what the rest of you come up with should be interesting if nothing else.

Perfect example of a signing to drastically improve a team is Snoddy at Villa. He’s terrific in our division but I doubt Orta ever even considered him
how much money do you think Ekuban was earning in Italy playing in Serie C and D ?
He went to Albania ffs to try to make a living how much do you think he earned there ?
You got him for fookall and pay him peanuts compared to quality championship players <ok>

Ortas market

I know that and you know that, difference is I care

Give him a summer making his own signings. He was the one who brought us Bartley and improved Wood beyond all recognition in his season with us <doh>
He inherited a good Swansea squad from Laudrup and was soon found out, gave up with us near the end of his tenure because he knew he was going to feck off, lasted pissing time at Boro and now is fecking it up at Birmingham. Wood was good before Monk met him and Bartley was always going back to Swansea. Can't understand people sticking up for a money grabbing disloyal twat.<doh><doh>

Let’s not confuse Monk being less than excellent with the topic of the thread

I believe the facts are that Orta has delivered little, and of course we may be stuck with the less able players for some time

For me the only positives are saiz and Alioski. Forshaw is for me a traditional move for the biggest fee we paid this season from a fellow champ club that Orta knows very well. I don’t ghink we needed him for that.
OH sorry for going off thread... IMO Orta is just another person to blame for our **** displays. When really it's the players and management team that should kop some of the flak<ok>

Off subject I know but I see one of Eires teams are winning in a very entertaining game...<ok>

Apology accepted ;)

Have you been taking lessons from glory?

I’m much more strongly of the opinion that in this league for success you need 1. Money spent. 2. Good decisions on the spending and 3. Good coaching of what you’ve decided on - in that order

If 1 and 2 are fcked up then 3 can only do so much to cover

I think Rad did not do enough on 1 (but more than people give him credit for ), Orta fcked us completely ON 2, TC was not great and jury still out on PH regarding 3

On the players, if someone else picks them and they try hard (which I think they have) then I don’t blame them. Still need to get rid of half but that’s a result of 1 and 2 above being fcked up

All good points 2020. Interesting rad said he’d reduce squad to 20 next season with a few additions from the youths. If that’s the plan they will need to be all quality and there will be no room for Wiedwald, de bock, o Kane and a good few more. Now the question is how do we offload the ones that are surplus to requirement

Glory's was a genuine apology.. Well compared to previous owners Radz has invested I think a good bit of cash. But like he says he is a novice in footballing terms. Have you forgotten what happened when we were living the dream and spending silly money, we are still suffering.<ok>
