I don’t think Simpson is a bad player and I was delighted when he finally scored. I recall that you could feel the relief in the stadium when he broke his duck. Maybe a continued run of games at Millwall will help him. I do think our three (smallish) strikers are similar in style. I think we have good forwards, it’s just that City have not found their flow yet. Creativity has been reduced following Stewart’s injury. Brady will come good, but needs a few more games. Koren should step up a little and control the strings a bit. I remember when Bullard did play, the others passed to him so he could lay off the creative passes. Perhaps Koren needs to do this with Cairney. Evans and McKenna then smother the midfield. When you look at Barcelona, and I do appreciate the slight differences between them and City, they don’t have any tall strikers, I remember thinking in the CL Final that on corners they never sent the ball in to the box for someone to head it in. I think one good result, hopefully at home, will arrest the confidence decline. My prediction is that McClean with grab a couple and his confidence will be flying. So with those thoughts, I’m off to buy a lottery ticket for tomorrow!! UTT
I have to admit speaking to him when he was at my work he seems to be a genuine nice guy, but i think he is also one of the quietest footballers i think i have ever met to. He has potential he wouldn't of being at Arsenal if he didn't for so long but the fact is he needs regular football and if we are bringing in a new striker i doubt he will get that here.
what annoys me the most about this is that I know he's gonna come good... he's still so young (22). It's gonna hurt big time if he bangs them in for Millwall. I just don't see a solution. He needs confidence and we can't give him more t ime to prove himself. It's funny that a lot of people are feeling bad about this move yet they're likely to be the same ones moaning about our lack of goals... I think NP feels he just has to change something. It is a real shame really, i can bet you anything we might regret this decision. in the long run at least. Personally adebola was the wrong guy to get.
It's only on loan and if he does score goals then we can either use him or sell him. I hope he does well there as I'm sure he will
oh ok sorry. yes then that's a good move. the guy could still turn out to be brilliant so I would not sell him, especially considering how much we paid for him.
If true, bound to say I always suspected this might happen. Now we are only allowed five on the bench he's getting squeezed out - a shame really - he's a nice lad and had a decent run around Christmas when Cam Stewart was supplying the crosses. We then went and splashed £2.5 on Fryatt and Mclean and for whatever reason he's been pushed down the pecking order. Its not really worked out for him - so a change would be good for both parties. The forward line certainly needs freshening up - Waghorn would be good.
Says a million in The Mirror! Just shows what rubbish they write, however I think the link between Simmo & Millwall probably has truth in it
maybe a loan period away from the club and to get some games in and restore his confidence. but i do think jay simpson has what it takes to be a big goal machine for the club if he is handled correctly.
well if west ham are taking a chance on sam baldock why not us with Fondra then ? maybe a couple of zippy n nippy strikers will do the trick. i actually like Mclean playing out wide where he can use his pace and strength. he may well work well with rosey on the right wing.
