to Millwall, according to the Mirror: http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/tra...er-Arsenal-striker-on-loan-article790684.html
I'm sure there's a new striker coming in, but I can't see it being today, it's more likely to be next week.
I think this is a shame, I don't think Simpson had enough of a run to prove himself. His pairing with Stewart was great, he was unlucky that we then spent £2m+ on two new strikers.
If he does go, watch him go on and prove to be a huge success. Why do we as a club have such an appalling track record with centre forwards?
Arsenal didn't seem able to bring him on much either. Perhaps our record would improve if we had a larger pool of them to choose from. Although I'm not certain such a pool exists as so many clubs are in the same boat, hence Millwall feeling he's better than they've got.
The mirror article says on loan, I think that'd be a pretty good move, get some games in and build a bit of confidence up then maybe we'll see some of that potential materialise into goals.
Shame, i still think he could do something for us this season. If homesickness/family failing to settle has a part to play then see why a move to Millwall might work. Can see him doing well there. Hopefully whoever we bring in will be better than what we already have.
"....Hopefully whoever we bring in will be better than what we already have...." For me that is the biggest worry. To get people to physically move to Hull is a hard enough task, but if you add to that low wages, then the writing is on the wall!
Such a nice man as well. He's as far removed from the modern 'London footballer' as you could possibly get.
They've been right on several of our deals, we are trying to get rid of Homer, he's from London and he's played for Millwall before, I suspect this one is true.
The problem isn't always with the Centre Forward. In our case it is mostly dow to supply from the midfield. Lets be honest with ourselves and say that our midfield doesn't exactly dictate play in most game and hasn'e for quite some time (not just under NP). Even the worlds best strikers need supply from the midfield and in our case supply is drier than Eastern Africa. It is then hardly surprising that a half decent Centre Forward then goes on to be successful in a team where the midfield is effective. We need to strengthen midfield as well as the strice force IMO. For me Mckenna is not up to the task. Koren is skillful but doesn't work hard enough. Cairney is still wet around the ears, Brady & Evans show promise, but again are a bit wet around the ears. We need a leader, much in the mould of Ashby, but with a wider scope of play, being both defensive and attack minded. unfortunately these are a rare commodity and usually come at a heavy price! UTT.
Need some more playmakers as well to get our strikers the chances they need. Saying that, they've had chances this season, just not put them away. Macclesfield at home, simpson through on goal, misses from 5 yards out and goes into row Z, that proves it for me. Scored 4 goals in 5 games and thats it. Fryatt and McLean are better. Hope Waghorn comes and has something to prove
