It doesn't matter coz both countries are ****e anyway.
Play for Scotland and maybe one day you'll play in a tournament.
Play for England and you'll be in a tournament just to make up the numbers.

Send him homeward, **** all thinking required...

Surely a fait accompli anyway - as it must all be about identity.

If I were a sportsman, as much as I criticise, I wouldn't and couldn't represent anyone but England,

Completely disagree. If I had the option to represent a number of countries, I would 100% choose the one that gave me the best opportunity for success.

The lad himself might have done that here anyway, as the first stage of ‘success’ means being selected for the side.

Ashley Barnes (Burnley) is wanted by Austria, he has an Austrian grandmother.

if your first name is scott and your last name begins with mc and is almost unpronouncable, you should want to be scottish.

His dad is Glaswegian. That makes him Scottish in my mind. Personally, I'd never consider playing for any country other than the one I come from.

Also, he'd be fooking deed, if he picked England over Scotland when his dad got hold of him.

Agree completely. International football is a limited opportunity. I'd take any avenue I could.

Forget that... I would try and find some Caribbean blood in my family, free holiday every two months sounds good to me!

He was born in Lancaster.

Which is possibly the ****test city in England.

An in-bred dump of a place; a depressing cleft of land stuck between ****allsville and Nowhere-by-the-lakes.

It serves no purpose at all, just ruins the view whilst trundling through the North-West.

However, it is in England so that's who the lanky dimwit should play for (If he turns out to be any good).

Nah.

Not the Lancaster part, the where you’re born part. If my mum had been on holiday in Lloret de Mar when she popped me out I wouldn’t have felt more inclined to play for Spain.

Which is the only reason I never did play for them.

Naturally, it's a personal viewpoint.

For some, it will be about identity and for him, possibly playing for England over Scotland was incompatible with his identity.

Some people in,life just don't chase success at all costs.

Wrong.

Born and raised in England as were his parents.

Qualifies through his grandparents ancestory apparently.

He’s as Scottish as that other silly ****: Rod Stewart.
