Notts County have offered former Spainish international Diego Capel £15,000 a week to help with promotion from League 2. He'd walk into our side, let alone any team below us. What the ****, Darnbrough?
If the club trigger a few one year extensions for the younger (cheaper) players and fill up their loan quota. We have the bones of a squad. It seems like we will have plenty of players for the pre season warm weather training, which makes a pleasant change.
Maybe some of the previous signings are, I'm not privy to that information, but I was thinking more of in the present state that we are in. That is, him not spending and trousering anything that has any value he can.
15k a week on average to me works out at £60,000 a month (on average a four week ish month). That's £720,000 a year for one player. Some players are on a lot more, some are on less. Hernandez was on £37,000 a week last season and I'll bet the relegation clauses weren't 50%. Mason's wages will have been taken into account up until he retired, he won't have been cheap. Dawson was on just over £40k a week last season. Larsson was on £35k a week at Sunderland, he won't be on massively less now. Grosicki won't be cheap and I'll bet Evandro wanted a pretty penny to come across. Add to that players like Henriksen, Campbell, Dicko and Toral, who effectively dropped a level to be with us (Dicko came from Wolves, but look at them.). We also have to pay the wages of some of the loan players and I seem to remember that Hector is on something daft like £15k a week at Chelsea.
Of all the players who will leave only fully fit Abel and Moses will I miss. Adkins has looked at and we have squad of players picking up good salaries sitting on the bench or playing Fifa. We need some fresh hungry players at this club. The lad from Barnsley is a good signing one who is hungry, hopefully Adkins can find similar.
Did we activate Moses' clause or is it still there? I can't see him leaving after his lengthy injury.
26 players on £24,408 a week is a few pennies short of £33,000,000. Factor in that some are on more and some are on less it won't be far off
I don't think many people are aware that all the staff are on the wage bill, not just the football related ones.
Players on decent wages at our club are because we were in the premiership when they signed. Yes many will have had big pay cuts but will still be on very decent wages. I can't see these wages ever been offered again under the present ownership, They are intent on bringing the wage bill down and that's why everyone who is out of contract will be on their way and be replaced with someone on a much lower wage. I just hope which ever league we are in next season we pay enough to compete because yes when you go down wage bills have to drop but its how far you go and getting the balance right to attract decent replacements. Only time will tell.
