The "strategy" is simple :

1. Stockpile all potential talent, so your rivals cannot have them.

2. If you do not use them, then at least have a "zero sum"
outcome when you sell them.

3. Do not sell the outcasts to your rivals.

And if they do come in, wage poison your kids with silly
money so that non Sugga Daddy FC clubs will not bend to
their wage demands.

their main issue seems to be when clubs sell on thier outcasts they then prove to be better than they players they actually buy for first team and they end trun up at thier rivals who procede to then thrash cheslea silly

perhaps they should be selling only to russian clubs to can then vanish these players to avoid embarrassment?.

I think you're a bit muddled as to history RDBD, you blatantly flaunt Utd's historical successes but disregard ours.
But, during the Dark Knight's successful reign at OT we won 3 league titles, 5 FA Cups, 4 League Cups, 1 Champions League title, 1 Uefa Cup, plus Super Cups and Charity Shields.
If Utd's history is valid ours is also.:emoticon-0105-wink:
excuse me but what did spurs win during that time to compare

I don't flaunt anything.
I have seen two football empires in England in
my lifetime : the Poool and Man Utd.

The first came to its historical end in 1990.
The latter has had a decline since 2013, and in
time that may well turn out to be its historical end.

That hasn't actually happened yet (academy talent
they had who got dumped and then matured into
the real deal) .

OTOH buying younger serior talent and seeing the
above happen (KDB, Salah, Lukaku) is IMHO
verging on the criminal.

academy talent wasn't what was mentioned though. it was purchases.

there are several examples of purchases they have sold on for profit coming back and biting them in the arse as you mentioned.

Frankly academy talent has been pampered and spoiled in this country by many clubs.

Both chelsea and city have ran very expensive academies for years with no output at all which imo is criminal too. Having seen some of their underage teams playing its a total waste that none have actually amounted to anything.

it is.

LFC won fa cup in 1992. one might indeed claim that 1990 was a last hurrah by an aging side which was not rebuilt in time. In effect dalglish repeated the error of Shankly in being too loyal to players. Shankly had 7 years with nothing as well but he learned and more importantly bob paisley did.

However certain players like steve nicol were broken by events and thati think should be where that is left

Utd have rebuilt their team 3/4 time sunder ferguson each different in its own right... but right now... its a mess. theres 4 different managers stamps on the side including fergusons, a style which is alien to the fans, all 3 managers seem hell bent on this style btw. The tactic seems to be to spend loads of cash wildly and pay the biggest wages on the planet.

For me that says club is not pulling together in one direction.

For me it will be interesting to see what city do when pep walks off in a year or 2 saying 3 years is enough for anyone. their whole backroom staff have been pulling towards getting pep in and paving that way so the Spanish guys who are the football minds at the club will have to produce another manager..

Both they and real are sniffing poch.

As I said, time will tell on that one.
And history (sic) is showing them they cannot
assume they are in a "temporary blip" .

Pep IMHO will go in the same way he departed Madrid.
When he cannot deliver the CL, and (worse) if he cannot
repeatedly deliver the PL, even with the Sugga Daddy money.

Doubt a PL club will get Pochettino for a very long time.

Madrid is interesting, given the ingrate/entitlement
culture of that club. He could go there, succeed or fail
before getting dumped, and it would do absolutely
nothing bad to his credibility as everyone knows how
that club is.

I think we can beat all of the teams. With the exception of United, the rest of the teams like to have the ball and we’re arguably one of the best counter attacking teams in Europe.
I agree BUT we can also lose to any of sides really easily - it’s very frustrating :)
It would not surprise me if we were to lose 3/4-1 tomorrow but reasonably confident of progression to qf

Oh yeah don’t get me wrong, I don’t expect us to win the CL but I don’t go into any game with fear anymore.

Really?, so winning league titles is the only notable thing in history according to you.

As I pointed out in my previous comment we haven't exactly won nothing since Utd's halcyon days under Fergie began, we won more than some most clubs have in their entire history in fact, on the flip side they won a total of three cups and got relegated during our reign as the top club.
Bit of a difference there wouldn't you say RDBD?

We have underachieved for a number of reasons in recent seasons but are going in the right direction under Klopp's managership, for now our improvement along with our brand of football is enough, anything else is a bonus.

The empires have a sustained period of time where
they continually crush the opposition in all competitions.

It was so for the Poool.
It is (perhaps soon to be was) for Man Utd.

Other clubs have moments in said periods where
they win silverware. Some a bit more than sporadic.
But that does not make them comparable to the
empire of that time.
