I don’t want their club to fold. It’s of no use that in terms of rivalry. I think another relegation would be good to teach them some humility after all their crowing to us when we went down.

Eventually though I’d want the derbies again. Ideally they go down and bounce back. Administration would be funny as long the club doesn’t cease to exist.

They are a source of amusement to poke fun at but it’s difficult to get very invested in their plight. They do have some decent fans I feel sorry for. I have a few mates who support them. Some are knobs about football and deserve it. Some are ok and I do genuinely think they’ve been shat on. Some crowed about Ashley, but he’s a much better owner than Ellis ever will be. He’s never put his hand in his pocket to help. People slate Ashley and say he only bailed us out for selfish reasons for his investment. An owner doesn’t have to as Short shows. Ashley has pumped money in when needed, appointed a manager everyone wants paying big bucks, and gave him everything the club generates to bounce back. What’s Short done for them?
Haha

Yes I know it looks bad having threads 'dedicated' to our rivals up here but genuine question. Do you actually want to see them get relegated to League 1? Go into administration? Points deduction and slide further, perhaps even dissolve?

There is a lot of rhetoric around rivalry and I can freely say that I want them to continually do worse than us but I genuinely don't want any of the above to happen. I may be in the minority (not sure) but I would support Sunderland more than southern teams as they've more in common with us, deserve more through their support and because a rival in a lower league is almost pointless!

I'm sure many Newcastle fans are enjoying their current plight but how far do you want it to go?
Let's be fair, you are the biggest Mackem sympathiser on this forum (even more than turncoat Albert!). You blow smoke up their arses on a daily basis. Sorry, I'm not trying to mean, but it has needed to be said for a long time.

Anyway, I like them to be worse than us which they are and I laugh a lot about their current plight as the disasterous results roll in week after week. It's just funny to laugh at people who have been so obsessed about Newcastle doing badly, going through what they are going through. So I hope they get relegated again and I hope they go into administration and continue to struggle for a long time. Not bothered about derbys tbh, even though in my lifetime we have won the majority.

Hey I'm not arguing, it's not mean it's true.

My concern (regarding the derbies) is that in the middle of dreary seasons when we've been mid-table or fighting relegation in the past they at least raise extra interest. To a far lesser extent Boro does the same (it's not a proper derby but they want it to be so it still becomes a game with extra bite).

Do I particularly give a **** about us playing most of the Premiership teams? No not particularly.

Beleaguered Sunderland put up for sale — for less than Arsenal spent on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
Owner Ellis Short just wants out now and will take £50m to be rid of North-East giants staring at back-to-back relegations

Coleman's battle on Wearside is a far cry from taking Wales to the Euro 2016 semis (Image: Sunday SunManager Chris Coleman admitted on Monday that owner Ellis Short has fallen out of love with football, and appealed for a new tycoon to take charge.
MirrorSport has been told that at one point, while they were in the Premier League, Sunderland were GIVING AWAY 9,000 tickets per game for free.

Current MD Martin Bain has scrapped that drain on income, but he also inherited several bad deals, a huge wage bill and spent 18 months cleaning it all up ready for a sale.

US-based billionaire Short wants out and has effectively handed over the keys to Bain.

A source said: “The club has very good infrastructure and nothing hiding under the bonnet now. The club needs a buyer.”

That £50m pricetag is less than Arsenal spent on a single player last month — £56m striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Bain became the “frontman” for crowd abuse during the weekend defeat by Brentford but has had to slash Short’s subsidy, which at one point ran at £25m a year, and has little leeway to invest in players.

Sunderland now have a £35m wage bill and have another season with a £35m parachute payment from the Premier League.

One interested German buyer failed to prove they were serious, but the hunt is one for another.

Coleman said: “Ellis wants to sell the club. (The fans) recognise that maybe he doesn’t... his love for the club was maybe yesterday.

“Until we get someone that wants to turn a corner and love it, and care for it, and look after it.... hence the negativity. We know the anger and frustration. We take it on the chin until we get a new owner.

“Martin Bain is very much the man who has been pushed out in front. And he accepted responsibility. He is a big boy and can handle it. People vent their anger somewhere. Martin is the frontman for that.

“But for me, 15 years a manager, I have not worked for a better chief exec.

“We understand people will vent there anger. Our supporters need people here who care about the club as much as them.”

Cattermole reveals the true emotional toll of repeated relegation scraps which have left him 'in tears'
Sunderland face Bolton on Tuesday night, before a derby against Middlesbrough on Saturday.

Coleman said: “We are hurting and suffering. You either rise to it or duck it. People have billed this week as do or die for us.

“Do other teams have more fight than Sunderland? Over 90 minutes, yes. I can’t get over not competing, not fighting. That keeps me awake at night.

“I understand the fear factor at the Stadium of Light and we are on the back of three or four years of negativity. Who could blame our fans for feeling like they do? You couldn’t.

“You can’t wish it to happen. You have to make it happen. We have been booed off more times than I can remember. What is the worst that can happen to us now? Let’s go for it.”

I don’t know why their fans aren’t trying harder? They could easily survive with that squad and get themselves a better buyer in the Summer with a decent Championship budget. Maybe I’m missing something but the importance of the fans cannot be understated.

Not a bad price for a sporting goods salesman with £300m burning a hole in his pocket...
They're heading into the bracket of being bought out by a saviour who it turns out never had the money he said he did and somehow conspires to make everything worse.
I'm actually starting to worry there won't be a Sunderland left to laugh at in a few years....
So i just laugh twice as hard to make up for it
