    Dont forget, we save Carroll's wages, so that's 5 year deal of 30k p/w.

    Top spot Smudger! Had completely forgotten about that. Hopefully we'll get 50k p/w + some cash back from Xisco also.

    And if we were to move Smith on, that would be a rumoured 60k p/w <ok>

    Well if we spend the full 35mil the net spend is still 0, so surely we can go a bit over?

    Surely we will also gain 4/5 months interest on 35mil,which i imagine would be a pretty penny too!!!!

    will be interesting to see, for all the bad that Ashleys done (and i dont think i have enough space to write it all) he has never taken money out the club like our previous owners, and put it in when needed after relegation (http://tinyurl.com/4gpyr4r) but all that was through necessety. Now we get to see what he does when there is cash available

    Ireland will be playing right hand side of midfield, stands to reason, Pardew wouldn't let Routledge go out on loan if he wasn't getting a replacement in. That replacement is Ireland. Joey will return to middle alongside Tiote with Nolan playing behind Shola (would have been Carroll), it's fairly much common sense.

    Pardew said he wanted to relace Routledge with another player (Ireland) so the squad size doesnt go down, not as a direct replacement, we still have Jonas, Barton, HBA, Raylor and LuaLua comfortable on the wing, it would be silly to play Ireland there when Joey's doing so well. Barton is experienced and could adapt to playing wide, no guarantee Ireland will be able to, if he is even asked to play RM.

    I have just read that Ireland is out for 2 weeks, so looks like it will be Best and Shola upfront with normal 4 in midfield, for this game tonight anyways!

    Was it £35m up front though? Guess that would depend on how Chelsea paid for Torres, although it's not as if Abramovich would need to pay in installments (and especially not going into the new financial fair play rules era) so probably was the lump sum.

    I would prefer 17yr old Thorgan Hazard from french club Lens he is going to be better than his brother Eden Hazard

    But let us not forget that we are no longer paying Carrolls wages, so it's neither here nor there really.

    In fact, I would suggest based on what you have said, that we could afford to get a 40,000 a week player who costs £30 million!!! Or an £60,000 a week player that costs 26.68 Mil - That sort of spending power looks extremely rosey! Not suggesting that we should of course.

    <cheers>
