If we get rid of Xisco (who still has two and a half years left on his £50kpw contract) that's £6m saved in future wages along with whatever transfer fee we can get for him (let's say £2m).

Carroll's £30kpw for another four and a half years would have cost us £6.5m. Plus the £35m (rising to £40m) we got for him.

We spent £5m on Ben Arfa (which I'm sure MA will claim from the Carroll money...) and probably about £1m in wage contributions for Ireland.

If we can tie some of our better players down to improved contracts (though look where that got us with Andy... <erm>) then we should still have plenty left over to bring in fresh faces.
