i haven't been for a couple of years now, as other commitments come first at the moment. I used to go to maybe 5 or 6 games a season, and I do want to get back to going more often. How about you?
It was quite a solid side though despite the areas that could be improved on. Traore stands out as does Kewell but other than that they all did a job. The bench was terrible other than Hamman.
Zidane was a club legend as a player. Not sure about Barca - didn't Poch say that, as a former Espanyol manager, he wouldn't go there?
Well he will go to Madrid for sure, was just using Pep and Zidane as examples of La Liga clubs taking on new young managers who hadn't won anything. You could also use Carlos Queiros and Frank Rijkaard as examples of El Classico hiring new, potless managers,
Go to home games, have two SC's but Mrs had a baby last year and I've missed a chunk of them due to that. Going to Chelsea next weekend though.
I think they'd rather go for a manager that's won more. Don't see Poch appealing to Chelsea. They don't have the patience to wait 5/6 years for a trophy, as much as it'd do them good to have him rebuild them.
If it takes any manager 5 years to win a trophy at Chelsea, then that manager is a failure. Spurs not so much because they were not PL competitors when Poch arrived and didnt have a squad worth a billion quid. He has got them challenging at that level. Chelsea are already at that level, so I wouldnt expect it to take 5 years with a new manager!
Yeah I agree with this. No doubt he is a good manager but what he has built his success on has been getting the non superstars to buy into his ideas and make them superstars. If he were to walk into a squad with superstars already there and tell them to run their asses off I don't think it would end too well. Then he would have to get them out and bring in a load of new players, which involves transition and time, which is something you don't get at the big clubs really. It is why I don't see him being a great fit for Real.
This must be the now familiar 'weekly **** off' at dismantling Spurs again after a decent result. Bitches with balls, no wonder Skiddy is at the middle of it
I know all about dismantling due to what has happened at Saints in recent years, but there is a football food chain and if someone bigger seriously comes in for your players then it will be hard to keep them. Sure you can get big fees and invest the money, but keeping hold of some of the players Spurs have got is going to be very hard in the next 6 to 18 months.
You finished 5th in the league 37 points behind the winners Chelsea. Just admit it, it weren't a great side? It was a side that showed great heart and fight in the one off games, and one that also rode it's luck. You lot always say to big up Gerrard that he won the Euro Cup on his own, and the reason he never won the league was because of the team around him, and not him. But now I'm telling you the teams he played in weren't great, you lot are disputing it. You can't have it both ways Put it this way if we under Mourinho this season managed to win the CL, you wouldn't catch me saying it was a vintage Man Utd side. I'd be very pleased obviously, but I know we ain't great, and to go far in the CL this year, we are going to need to ride our luck, and park the bus for most of the rounds, and hope to nick a goal here or there. It can be done though, you guys in 05 and Chelsea in 12 proved it can be.
