I think it´s all to do with money and the EPL has destroyed any semblance of fair football in England, the same has happened in Spain where i have lived for over 20 years, here it is now just a silly 2 horse race each year admittedly it was always about Barca and R.Madrid but the others used to be much closer.Imo all this started with the Champions league which now has such an influence on income, prestige, and buying power.Oh well being a Spurs fan was never easy anyway. COYS
not a rant at all NSIS. a bloody good post mate - couldnt agree more. As a businessman, you'd hope Daniel Levy would be able to pre-empt this. i'm sure he knows this, but perhaps there's just nothing he can do with the resources he has, due to the global superpowers that just can't be competed with. This is the reality we all have to face - This is now the 3rd transfer window that's been disappointing. As things currently stand, have we reached the best level we possibly can?
Yep, basically the champions league and sky are the problem. That is not gonna change any time soon unfortunately. And even if it did the tantrums/wages/cretinous behaviour of the players is unlikely to be erradicated for a generation at best
I've said this before. You do wonder sometimes with Levy, if it's "can't spend" or "won't spend". Levy is the one who's been making the noises about us being a challenger at the top table. Unfortunately, at the moment, that's all he's doing - Talking!! Of course, unless UEFA intervenes, and actually does something, we can never compete on a level playing field with the Arab oil money. However, I'm far from sure that we're doing all we can to improve, and maintain our squad. In short, if Levy means all his fine words, then let's see some action!
I do try not to think about it, its thats disturbing. In my heart of hearts I've thought that Levy's thinking has been this; New Stadium - first and foremost Harry goes to England - so why give him what he wants, just so I have to do it all again in a year. Hold my jewels for a season of stability, sell those that can bring in proper money next summer and get rid of the deadwood as well. 5 or 6 of our current first team are capable, keep them at all costs (Dawson, Assou-Ekotto, Walker, Sandro, VDV and Bale(perhaps)), the rest can go if we can get what WE want for them. New manager can have serious funds for 2012-2013.
Talking of action. Is anyone here convinced that giving Modders a huge pay rise* is the right thing to do considering his behaviour over the last couple of months? * as has been reported in the press
