I didn’t vote Remain, largely because the campaign was so unappealing.

You like to get yourself angry about this. All I’m saying is if you go down your average high street and listen to people, they’re mostly dumb. Playing the ‘we won the war’ card is old news.

    Such condescending claptrap!

You're talking rubbish. My point was about the people who fought in the war more than who won it. The fact we won it allows you the freedom to spout your vitriol. I get angry when people talk down to me. You obviously consider yourself intellectually "above" the average British person that you so readily rubbish. You may not have voted remain, but you have argued against Brexit ever since the result. Perhaps you should have voted.

The average citizen is clearly not anywhere near your obvious intellect, but they are the ones who will, more often than not, help you out if there's an emergency and fight the battles and wars that keep you safe.

Again, Col, you’re getting unnecessarily emotional about this. Do you honestly think we were adequately informed of what Leave/Remain truly meant given we still don’t know now what sort of Leave we’re getting?

I’ve argued against the way Brexit has gone and is going towards. I’d have liked a far more moderate EFTA type agreement and preferably not have had the far right proclaiming this as their victory.

Not emotional, just disagreeing with you and finding you condescending. Let's agree to differ eh?

Interesting that there are reports in the Sunday Papers today, that the EU member states are exasperated with Michael Barnier, frustrated by his aggressive rhetoric towards the UK in the Brexit negotiations. Officials from a number of EU countries (including France) are believed to be angry by the negotiating stance taken by the Frenchman and are astonished by the hard-line he is taking in discussions with the UK.

There are reports that one EU official said they would “walk away and then see how the EU does without the money” if they were in Theresa May’s position.

For me, it's great news that EU member states are starting to be concerned at the negative and aggressive attitude coming from Brussels. Negotiators on both sides need to be positive and creative, otherwise both sides suffer.

  16. Our biggest advantage will come when the detailed talks begin. At the minute all member states say they are behind the Commission and frankly we should not believe a word of it. They will all fight like ferrets in a sack because nobody will want a deal that leaves them significantly worse off. A good example for me is France who keeps claiming its priority is the future of the Union. Utter piffle - France's only concern, as it should be, is France. Macron isn't going to screw over shed loads of his own businesses just to piss off the UK. Well that's what I am hoping anyway...

Agree 100%, Dan. It'll come down to trade interests for each of the 27, and of course, the money which the UK is promising, both the £39bn for past commitments and £18 bn that we will pay in the 2 year transition. I hope the 27 sweep Brussels aside, and use it simply as their messenger in the Brexit negotiations. There's a big meeting at Chequers next week, and then, apparently, May will set out the UK's substantive position, so an important couple of weeks coming up...

  18. This is the time that the UK really needs to come together. If the Government can get all parties on side to get the best possible deal we might just be able to expose the fault lines within the EU. Of course they should have been doing this for the last 20 months but better late than never!

Big ask imo but the only way to do it
It’s a split nation imo and was before with the North and South divide ... anyone who thinks that doesn’t exist should be smacked down

We have had three incidents at my company all Brexit related as we have offices nationwide. Politics spills over

The media are stirring it all up anyhow they will never help unite this country

The best we could hope for is something similar to say the Olympics where the sheep know nothing about them until they are on them suck in the details and pretend to get involved and own the news

People think only like individuals this is what we have become. The great GB best at everything well in our heads

Disfuntional to a point of no return imo
