I know I’m beating the same drum, but I would start my team sheet with Boufal’s name on it in a central position for the next 6 games. Don’t ask me to pick the rest around that, MP2 gets paid for that :)

I’d just let him loose to be direct when he can. I don’t care if he loses the ball up the field several times. It could be worth it for the one moment he gets into the box, gets brought down or opens them up. The coaching staff should be talking to him about where and when to try his magic, but without him in the line up we don’t have anyone who looks to beat a man or run at them directly. Last night Brighton’s number 19 ran directly at us and caused problems, one time leading to the penalty. Teams don’t like it. We look pedestrian in attack and that is easy to defend.

The other side benefit of having Boufal run at a team time and time again, is that it makes a little more unpredictable. Right now we are so predictable it is easy to defend against us. If we did this. Teams would be unsure whether to close or sit and then spaces start to appear for other people.

Yes it’s a gamble and MP2 needs to be brave to try this, but it is time to be brave.
I get what you're saying, but I just feel boufal isn't going to deliver what you hope. And therefore shaping the team around him is a waste. Not that we have much better alternatives.

I hope you won’t mind me mentioning that your joke about misspelling Højbjerg’s name hasn’t been funny for several months now. :)
I couldn't find 'the boy who cried wolf' but here is an example of early lee/herring which shaped my sense of humour

Don't think MP2 knows brave, he knows cautious and horse racing. He's riding a Chepstow in the 3.30!

I agree. Though I'm willing to be proved wrong, I see a lot of skill but not much evidence of a great football brain with Boufal.

Tadic is the first name on the team sheet for me every week. Despite the fact he was poor yesterday. Can you start Tadic and Boufal, away to West Brom? Dunno, maybe.

It's all about opinions, I know. @The Liebherr Legacy said last night that Boufal terrified the Brighton defence when he came on. Personally I think that if that's true, they did a good job of hiding their fear.

Still, I want to see us take risks. So whatever.

Bench- forster, yoshi, mcqueen, boufal, long davis, romeu

Please can we have gabbiadini in the team but not as lone striker, play him as he was at his previous club.

would be my choice. mp2 must realise that long can only use his speed against good sides that have a high line, teams like brighton and wba we should have the majority of the ball hopefully around their area which is where gabbi is stronger. the fans have now reached the point of turning, he must start playing 2 strikers and if we go down, we go down swinging

McCarthy
Pied Yoshida Stephens Targett
Josh Sims JWP Jordy Clasie McQueen
Obi - Big Sam

oops I think I've accidentally picked a team for the Championship, but hey we might as well start them now and bed them in!

I’d build the team around lemina at 10 personally. Has shown much more ability than Boufal. Think he could do a real job there linking the midfield and attack.
Tadic left, JWP right. Carillo up front ( Austin when he’s fit) getting on the end of JWP crosses. Then bring Boufal on as a 10 when opposition are tired. He’s too unreliable to play consistently. He invites pressure on us by giving the ball away in completely stupid places.

Lemina isn't a number ten. Boufal is too unreliable? Who exactly is reliable attacking wise in this squad?

Thanks, nice glimpse of Sally Phillips in there, which is always a good thing!

He came on there away at Watford and was great. Maybe not strictly a number 10, but just ahead of Romeu and PEH. It would work really well and give us more physicality in there as well.

Was that away at Watford where we were appalling in the second half.

I don't want us to play those 3 together really unless it's against a top side. I'd have him partnering Pierre and then Gabbi Boufal and JWP behind Carillo.
