If he's interested and has release clause surely it's down to whether we want to pay that?

I wonder if by paying the release clause rather than a transfer fee that QP then doesn't receive his 15% (which I assume is a pretty major part of the deal for him), so we are pushing for transfer rather than release, but not wanting to pay the extra?

There is a danger that someone thinks we give a ****. Just sign the bugger, FFS

Anyone else fear and Everton or a Wham gazumping us because we're dicking about over 5m?

(If that's actually what is happening).

If Everton or West Ham are actually interested (no idea if there is any truth to the latest rumours) then we probably are going to miss out as they will just stump up the money Spartak want and they both are more desirable clubs for the player I would guess. They both pay more money in wages and are higher up the league, one is in London and the other has spent loads in the last year or so can show him ambition.

Would've been nice to have sorted this and had him in the squad for our crucial relegation six pointer tomorrow, but no we are quibbling about a measly £5m which will be a drop in the ocean to what the club will lose in revenue if it is relegated.
We went down by being frugal in 2005, let's not see history repeat itself.

Keep on saying it, saints need to ****ing wake up and move with the times, its fine paying low and haggling over amounts for these "black box" players that we scout that our somewhat unknown , but when we're pissing about over 5 million with bigger clubs than ourselves being interested in proven world players I just don't get it. Yes it's not my money and it's easy to say but we've just spent 19 million on an average striker in my eyes why would be stalling over paying 10 million more for promes.

Its the Southampton way!!

The latest article says we are £7m apart with Spartak over fee (including Promes sell on %), if that is true seems a lot to make up in one day. All the other deals that are being talked about happening before deadline seem further advanced. I guess we could just stump up the cash later today/tomorrow but doesn't really feel like a Saints move, and Spartak are probably happy to not budge as they have said they want to keep the player until the summer.
