Think its because united were winning leagues fella.

You dont see coutinho staying because you are in CL

Coutinho would have stayed for a LC/FA?

Berbatov's wife wasn't begging to move to Salford.

it's very clear this is a free game for Cardiff and absolutely not an objective for that club.

they want promotion first second and third esp when drawn v city.

ideal game to try the guy out in and see what is what.

hopefully he can do well.

Whilst I agree with this being a low Cardiff target, I believe this is actually how they play on a regular basis.

Play hard to beat and whack it long to the wide men to run.

Going to get bummed if they do get promoted.

like Brighton are being... or huddersfield are dropping down like mad

can get a few results but will always struggle.

I'd say you're living in the past PJ, players in this era move for money first, just like Sanchez for instance, you could throw VvD into the hat also.
How many English clubs actually win trophies?, apart from Leicester breaking the mould it's usually City, Chelsea, Arsenal or Utd.
If you believe it's trophies first and money second explain the over inflated wages?

I just used Lukaku as an early example. Offered more money to stay at Goodison but pushed for a move, to a club that wins trophies.

Fair enough mate, but I'll stand by my "money comes first" comment because the days of locals being the backbone of teams has gone, no "I'll sign" without looking at the contract, those days are long gone.

Oh I am aware of that, it was just one example. Wasn't it reported that Coutinho was offered the captains armband and a big wage....

Hever some players like Gerrard are 'boyhood club' players

lads is doesnt matter what a club like liverpool off a lad like coutinho. 250k whatever.

The off the field opportunities are massive at Barca for him.

you can be winning league and whatever here and they will still go.

Players, presumably get what they think they're worth, some are accurate assessments and some are not, but they get their blood money whether they bring success or not.
Couthinho was good for the club while he was here, no trophies but helped to put money in the club coffers.
Like you I'd prefer a trophy but their are a few other clubs at the head of the queue unfortunately.

Agreed.

There are two clubs in the world both in Spain who will always be able to get whoever they want no matter how good the selling club is playing or winning.
Remember ManU were winning titles, getting to and winning CL finals and Ronaldo still left to Real without any hesitation.

The only thing that'll stop them is how much they can spend in one window
