Yeah those numbers makes sense but my concern would be the other players on less kicking up a fuss.

Tbh the way wages are going it's only a matter of time before 160k is an average wage at any top 6 club.

Look what's likely to happen at Utd now Sanchez is on 500k a week... the likes of Pogba will be wanting their slice. Could get messy.

lets put this sanchez deal into perspective.

they are paying a 29 year old the same wages (reputedly) as Messi.

They are paying higher wages than any chinese club has paid... allegedly.

They are also paying martial and rashford to sit on the bench now cos it'll have to be sanchez left of lucky... maybe one will get the right wing berth i suppose.

I see hazard has spoken out on these rumours of a donkey arriving at Chelsea. He's not in favour saying they don't need a striker so.... well... seems Chelsea are not all on the same page here.

And if we give Can 160k a week then Hendo will want the same. And then Gini will be asking for similar and others... it has further implications.

I can see Hazard, Crouch and Barnes forming a deadly 3 up top, no idea what he’s on about.

I'd even pay inflated emirates stadium ticket prices to see hazard play in that line up.

With drinkwater and moses and the like behind.

    Cabellero
    Rudiger Christiansen Cahill
    Moses drinkwater Barkely alonso
    pedro Barnes hazard

It's getting bad. remember when LFC went through this... there comes a time when it all just breaks and that time could come with one injury to hazard

Yes, dressing room harmony and all that.

That is why to let a player's contract run down to the end is so disastrous for a club. It should never happen or else you run into issues raised by Can, Sanchez Ozil and others.

Having said that, other players must surely realise each situation is different and the club can only act on its best interests. A player letting a contract being run down is losing money in the last few years as a renewal of contract usually means a significant increase in wages. Also Can's team mates must realise that getting a replacement will probably cost the club £40m-50m and a player on higher wages than Can.

The wages being bandied about for Sanchez are just astronomical. And totally out of sync with any of their own players and with other top premiership players wages.

BUT...before we all feel sorry for the mancs, their financial costs on that signing are not THAT bad. If they valued Mkhitarian at £30m then they are getting Sanchez for that price. Let's assume that Sanchez's real value (if he had a 2-3 years left on his contract) is £90m which is conservative in today's market. So the mancs are saving £60m on that fee. And even though he is 29 years, IF he is sold 2 or 3 years into his contract and if he is banging in the goals he may still have some resale value at 31 years. say £40m easily. So the mancs have a potential earnings/savings of £100m. Image and marketing rights etc may bring this to £120m. Sanchez and his agents have been trying to get a slice of that cake. Even with the signing on fee and agents fee at £30m and the £69m (450K/week over 3 years before he is sold) represents an total outlay of £99m. Still well within the potential savings/earnings the club get from the signing.

Difference is we didn’t have a bottomless pit of money to replace. Either way I still think the bottom lfc one looks better than bottom CFC one <laugh>

TBF that quality would apply only to City and PSG. Owned by national governments and associated organisations. Teams like the Mancs, LFC, and Arsenal have to look to the bottom line even though they may spend big on one or two players.
