It most probably is. Of course if they had got to own the stadium they might have ploughed money in, redeveloped and extended the stadium, built various facilities which would have increased revenues and established us as a Premier League club. Which would have had even wealthier peoplevqueueing up to buy us. Of course on the other hand...
"Worthless without a partnership with HCC" This is becoming more and more evident as one of the key reasons for the failure of our club under the Allams.
Development within the confines of the Stadium, the Arena and the astro pitches. A partnership with HCC could mean that the freehold bought for a nominal fee.
The problem is not the freehold or the willingness of HCC to sell it. There is not enough in a development to allow for any real amount of money to be paid for the freehold, it has to be virtually free or there is no point. People knock Assam Allam all they want, but he was right about one, thing the freehold of the stadium is worth nothing, too many restrictions and the high cost of the infrastructure.
Agree with the points you are making. I have said before, Geraghty thinking that because property prices had gone up Allam should have paid more than the total £40 million development cost of the whole site for the stadium was ridiculous. Nowhere would a stadium be sold for more than the cost of building it, in the KC's case about £30 million.
When the despicables sell up and move on how many flats will they be able to cram onto that training ground? Now they are sucking up to HCC is it eventually a goer or not?
They have shown, in the past, that they have more than an inkling what is required to compete for promotion and restore the golden goose. They also know how to hold and prosecute a grudge, take back investment and out think supporters - not a great summary, but far more realistic...
I agree, they’ve blown a very good business. They have made numerous mistakes which they are loath to admit (the bullshit at the last meeting was just that...), they are now in full on recovery mode and they will hurt, damage, insult and use anyone daft enough to attempt to work with them.
It's an interesting 'what if' which I've considered previously. If they'd done this, then we probably wouldn't have seen the Hull Tigers idiocy and the rest. Of course, not long after the initial approaches for the stadium, we soon discovered that Allams are morally repugnant - but which football owners aren't exactly?
Didn't Obi suggest that he would have flogged the club straight away if he'd got the freehold (and even had a buyer lined up)?
This is what happens when you're watching snooker and get involved here.Thicko me! I'll engage my brain next time.
You're probably right there, but perhaps the exception that proves the rule. Although last season, I recall reading the Boro forums and a seeming majority were slating him week in/week out
