NZ, hungry is not a word I’d use for Powell. I’ve followed Powell closely and seen him live a few times because my father-in-law is a season ticket holder at Wigan. I saw him as recently as 1st Jan.

You are correct that this lad is playing below his level, however I have not seen such a big time charlie for a long time. He is clearly talented but has a serious attitude problem. He’d have to change that before stepping up to the PL. If people think Redmond screams and shouts on the pitch, wait til they see this guy. From the first moment he is in the face of the referee and not in a good way.

Nice one FLT. I've certainly not followed him, like I said I didn't even know what happened to him really. I've not seen any of that behaviour and wouldn't care for it tbh. Shame, you would have thought he would grow up after dropping two divisions.

Yeah, I seem to remember him getting at least one move terminated for lack of effort. It's a risk I'd still take at a very low fee, though I'd be sure to make sure we weren't reliant on him at the same time.

My only hope would be that, for as well as he has played in the lower leagues, he'd understand that he pretty much has just one more shot at the top level before he's forever marked as a Football League lifer. Nothing against Football League lifers, mind, but that should be a motivator.

I’d far rather take a Balotelli shaped risk.

Oh, I'm sure we wouldn't. Guessing that we're very much keen on Promes, so long as Spartak takes much less than they are asking.

As with many January deals, it could drag out to the last day then. Providing it's genuine interest from us of course.

Remember watching Promes at one of the u21 national tournaments and he looked fantastic. Barely watch Russian football so not sure what he is like now. £30m seems about £15m too expensive for us, and I'm assuming he is on big money over there as well as he went there relatively young when bigger clubs were reportedly looking at him.

We might pay this if we were willing to pay £20m for Theo. Promes won't be expecting the same kind of wages Theo would and we could sell him to LIverhampton in a couple of years for a profit when Mane moves on.

I'd expect him to be on a decent wage in russia.

We should be in the market for £25-30m bracket players given our size and status.

I'm not really the type who thinks we need to spend a certain amount but the way transfers are now then £25-30m is the new £15-20m. Which makes your £15m player a £8-10m budget type player or complete unknown risk.
