True, like coutinho almost exactly this season. (barring the 12 goals and 9 assists) then the same question arises who goes behind him i nthe 2 to make it more solid? Anyway irrespective... any team who picks up 2 or 3 quality players cheap now is at a big advantage. Theres several quality players around europe with their pick of clubs lining up for them.
Interesting that we've been linked with a couple of lower league lads recently....looks like we'll compete with Spurs for both. Perhaps that's where the bargains are. We've been very quiet since the Couthino deal. With the exception of denying the Mahrez will join us tomorrow BS.....Linked with everyone and their dog but impossible to figure out what the club are up to....I do think that we need another creative player or we will struggle against vey defensive teams. The rest can wait for the summer.
I think bringing in a commanding world class goalie can make all the difference to a defence. I can only go off personal experiences, the team i play in has an awesome keeper who is proper gobby, he spends the whole game shouting at us telling us exactly where he wants us. The games he isnt there the difference in our defence is massive, in fact we have technically better goalies step in but for our defence having the instruction is vital. I am not saying this works at every club but i believe it is what we need right now. I dont believe either are that bad they just dont instill confidence.
Garry mac was a proper midfielder. a passer Mata is a technical player and no 10. he doesn't want to be doing midfield work
he's a very very good player but i don't think he'd suit your team at all. He'd only really fit in coming on for the final part in games if you were sieging the opposition or if klopp decided he was a good option for teams parking the bus. I don't think he'd be part of your first team because unfortunately he doesn't have the physicality or the speed or the stamina to implement the press properly. Classy player but easy to run past/pass round/hold off. He's also not that effective on the counter cause of his lack of speed
if you ever watched the two play, Ford can dribble it and is pretty quick and can nip in between the ball and has a bit of tenacity. Mata is pretty slow, doesn't have that burst and his legs are so short he cannot be tenacious (and he weights about 3 stone). One of my fave chelsea players and i bumped into him in real life and had a picture so i know he's 5ft7 so its no wonder he gets shrugged off. He's a technical wizard though and has a wand of a left foot and a very intelligent player. Your press which relies on all players will be 1 player down with him is all im saying so if klopp wants to keep with a full team press, i can't see mata being anything other than a squad player
bobby its not all about the press. beleive it or not we don't scroe every goal by pressing. We need someone to pass to salah in behind.. thats why mata for nothing makes sense. You need to be able to ping and accurate pass through to play on the counter or through the middle. Coutinho's outside of the right foot pass was sumptuous and will be missed badly
According to Spanish outlet Estadio Deportivo, the representatives of Barcelona’s Aleix Vidal are in England to talk to Liverpool about a possible move for their client. The right-back/right winger is apparently keen to make a move away from the club in order to help his prospects of making Spain’s squad for the summer’s World Cup in Russia, after being limited to many sub appearances so far this season for the La Liga giants.
Liverpool look to have missed out on a deal to sign Leon Goretzka on a free transfer as, according to Christian Falk of SportBILD, the player has agreed to join Bayern Munich.
good for him. we should find someone else now... buy in the summer but hopefully its not a no 1 and nobody else sort of deal that klopp likes so much
