It was a question, not a moan
    Don’t worry Pat answered it

67 seconds does sound a long time to decide to me though

    Relative to what?

Madley ran over to and had a chat with his assistant a few weeks back and wrongly allowed a Bournemouth goal against West Ham and that would have taken a similar amount of time.

You can watch it in real time here, it regularly takes longer then this with the just the players surrounding and arguing with the ref...

While you’re looking for a link to show the time that Madeley actually took, let’s say for now I think it’s a long time relative to the quickest hat trick ever which only took three seconds longer than the VAR decision

Not really sure the relevance? Unless you're suggesting that the time taken for VAR is considered part of the 90 mins.

I assume he meant relative to the time this would have taken but for VAR. Moss wouldn't have had a chat with his assistant for this one.

Looks like it got to the right decision in a reasonable amount of time though.

I think there would regularly be 60 seconds+ between a foul occurring and the FK being taken. At the very least 30-40 seconds. So I really don't think slightly over a minute to get something as important as a goal correct is the end of the world.

That's why the ref should have a can of mace.

As I said, they got the decision right in a reasonable amount of time.

But when you compare it, surely it has to be the same situation with VAR vs without VAR as the other situations are still occurring. In this case it would have been the delay to take the free kick and that's it.

I don’t think it does take that long, but until either of us know the facts there’s no point saying what we ‘think’

    I don't think so.

Edit - Just checked, it can't be shown in the stadium.

The ball is in play for 55 minutes in the average game of football, that means all the throw ins, free kicks, goal kicks...etc make up more than a third of the total playing time.

The arguement that the VAR will disrupt the flow of the game is based on the total misconception that football is continuous, it's not, it's full of stoppages, just because the clock ticks over doesn't mean the games flowing.

Even if the VAR takes a couple of minutes I think it's worth it considering the magnitude of the decisions and the time that is wasted elsewhere.

I think someone made a fair point on the BBC live text last night. If officials are afraid of making mistakes then they could be sending loads of tight offsides to the VAR. We could end up with 10 in a match (or something).
