*Pritchard replacement alert* [HITC!] Along come Norwich. Sell a maestro for £11m plus add ons, replace with a £500k Aberdeen player, Kenny McLean. Reminiscent of selling Chris Sutton for a then UK record and bringing in Mike 'Barn door' Sheron as a 'replacement' http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2018/01/1...-of-signing-kenny-mclean-scuppered-as-norwic/
Another bl**dy MF player. Seems Farke and co want to play with one misfiring striker for the rest of the season albeit he might also be sold. What ever the master plan is we surely aren’t being given any clues. We seem to be off loading at a rate of knots, is our financial situation so dire!
He’s a decent player. The fee and fact we are beating Rangers to him shows the kind of level. Might be ok, but again. Not a Striker again. again, plays mainly CM.
One for those requiring a 'quick fix'. http://norwichcity.myfootballwriter...metimes-theres-no-alternative-to-re-building/
Hanley has previous for Captaining a team and was thought of as a good captain at Blackburn, he's likely to be with us for a while and has right no nonsense, resilient attitude that we have been missing in defence for quiet a few years.
That is true. I do like Grant. He looks like a proper CB. Who would get the young players respect and clip them round the ear.
But surely if we also then agree to pay in installments, the full fee in theory would be available. OK so in reality most will be kept to fill the parachute payment blackhole but at least in principle if our receipt of payments in installments is fairly standard then others will accept it too. Bah!
It may not have been so far off 300m if you consider the parachute payments in all 3 Champ seasons too. I seem to recall one year inwhich the richest clubs in Europe were ranked and we were around 30th with a turnover of ~£90m Bah!
I like the sound of Kenny McLean. "McLean's favoured position is as a central midfielder, but he can also play as a left midfielder. He has said that he favours playing in the centre because he can get more of the ball and influence play more than when he is on the left. He is a naturally attacking player and when playing in the centre he makes runs to and beyond the striker which adds an extra dimension to his team's play. Former Scotland international, and McLean's teammate at St Mirren, Gary Teale has compared him to Barry Ferguson. Teale said that McLean had shown incredible maturity at such a young age and that from their first training session together he could see McLean's talent. McLean has an excellent first touch and is also very composed and assured on the ball. McLean also has very high energy, work rate and athleticism which enable him to make lots of attacking runs." More of a Howson type player, except that he's left-footed.
That's what I am saying, or do you think the rodent had nothing to do with the choice of loanees? Ergo the rodent's fault, especially for shipping out Hucks.
There's no need for anyone to predict a return to, or even reminisce, about our dark days of 2008 staring into both league and financial abyss, we're not back there yet thank god! This is all Robin's fault, tweeting about how many loanees are allowed per squad and on the pitch at any one time. Must admit to not knowing too much about the Aberdeen guy but if there's 20-25% of Howson-esque material in there, then that'll do for me, lad
The most sensible article I have read for a long while. Without wishing to making this personal perhaps FML or somebody with similar views could explain to me why the writer of that article is wrong and what we should in fact be doing, going forward, as an alternative. Mistakes made by previous Managers cannot now be corrected so are completely irrelevant to what we should now do.
Your mention of Andreu earlier made me think about AN's choice of players. Either he didn't know the level here or he wanted a player he knew. As for McLean, I don't know much about him other than what I quoted from Wiki, but we've never replaced Howson's skills and McLean might just do that. At 26, he should be coming into his prime and we need a CM who can get into the box to support attacking players. That he can play on the left as well would be a bonus.
Ok, you've convinced me - get yer cheque book out Delia - before he gets 'snapped up' by another club waiting to 'swoop' and make a dent in their 'war chest'
No mention of who will be paying what percentage of his humongous wages if (please!!!) / when this move goes through . I suspect NCFC will still be wearing substantial amounts of egg on their faces though https://www.edinburghnews.scotsman....even-naismith-agrees-to-join-hearts-1-4663485
What have our recent results been like - relegation form? Did our performance last Saturday indicate a group of players who did not feel like a team? The reports I read suggested that we were well organised, worked hard as a team and gave 100% effort until the very end. Does that indicate lack of cohesion and leadership? A Bristol supporter on the match thread described us as ' a tidy effort with some excellent players ' and one of the best teams they had seen. Are we not now only 2 wins off the play offs? Doesn't all of that give you some reassurance?
