Yup. I think that's the total sh*t they say every window. Always the same situation. Who are the amazing players to replace our amazing players/historic players? Why are they still not presenting anyone?! We have let go 4 now! 1 loan player who hasn't played a first team game, is not a replacement for selling a player like Pitchard for f*ck all. For example. I think we are all more than fed up for selling our fav players for millions, and bringing in sh*t for free.
/\ /\ Puts the current transfers in perspective however still a couple of weeks to get things organised. It would be nice to have all the replacements lined up for a smiley photo shoot as the outgoings leave but that's not how it works. I'd imagine our purchases or incoming loans are reliant on the departures being confirmed first anyway. Also don't forget SW was clear that he wanted to trim the squad size as well as get rid of some of the higher salaries. I wouldn't expect like for like replacements in all depts. We've got reasonable squad depth and i'm encouraged that we might start to see more of our juniors coming through as a necessity. Frankly I'd be more excited about seeing Godfrey / Cantwell / Lewis etc come through than more incoming loans. With Marcus Edwards loan move i think it's really just the new Striker i'm keen to see assuming no more departures. Zimmermann can cover RB as well as CB if Pinto gets crocked and we could always recall Toffolo if necessary. Would love to see more quality inbound but if the cash isn't there then what can you do.
We have players that can keep a sheet but a bit thin on the ground with people that score, curiously enough our defenders rarely score either . We are attempting to sign a goal scorer in January that can change our GD to plus figures for a nominal fee . He will of course be expected to hit the ground running and pull up trees . This window will be judged on the new number 10 signing.
Whatever people think about Martin and Jerome's ability to play for Norwich in the past 6 months, they've been immense players for the club. There was no one else with more passion and enthusiasm for playing in yellow and green. It was obvious they loved it and had a huge work ethic. Good luck to them both.
I still don't see how players that are criticised for not being good enough suddenly become "our fave players" when we move them on. Not sure if that is hypocrisy or double standards; probably both!
Not sure if that's aimed at me, but i'm not saying either were my "fave player" at any point, simply acknowledging that they both genuinely seemed to care about the club and both were always overtly doing their best (which these days isn't always guaranteed).
Don't think anyone has said they were fave players. They were first team players who have all left what was already a weak squad.
Now need 2-3 Strikers in a January transfer window, rather than 1 or 2. 15 days remain. Nice work Norwich! Lets get excited!
Alex Pritchard. We didn't sell Martin or Jerome or Wildschut for millions did we. We gave them away to better teams.
I'm going to be pedantic here, you said fav players, Pritchard is a single player, not the plural you stated.
I was talking about the seasons of seasons of transfer windows where we let players go for big money and replace them with cheap sh*t, and fans getting fed up with it. Read it back.
Let's ALL take a DEEP BREATH and stop bickering amongst ourselves. IMO - I'm pleased to see CJ go and as I said earlier in the thread if he helps Derby take points off other teams, then that's a bonus (same applies for Wildschutt). Martin just wants to play regular football, so he's loaned to 'Gers. I agree FML that we have let youff players leave for peanuts and they have since developed into decent players, Hopefully that will come to an end under SW/DF, but I'm not holding my breath on that one. Edit - from today's EDP and DF also comments favourably on the Abrahams situation "Norwich City’s highly-rated midfielder was touted with a mega-money £20m bid from long term admirers Tottenham on Tuesday, while Liverpool and Manchester City have also been linked with the England U21 ace this month. The 21-year-old is set for another leading role in the Canaries’ quest to knock Chelsea out of the FA Cup - and head coach Farke is confident that is his only focus despite fevered speculation around his future." “There is no danger of him being distracted,” he said. http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwic...tottenham-liverpool-manchester-city-1-5357931 Y'all have a good day and I'll rejoin the debate later this afternoon!!!
Come back soon JM Fan, I know I have a pop at times but I just get fed up of people comparing our current management team to previous managers. The majority of players brought in by the current team have been good quality so for goodness sake stop whinging and let them get on with the job.
That’s ok then, we can fill the side full of loanees who don’t really give a fu@k about NCFC ...... Oh hang on didn’t we do something similar with the Rodent? That went well didn’t it?
Disagree, he brought in dross after dross, on shortish term loans so no chance to build continuity and a playing style. I mean, Antoine Sibierski, Elliott Omozusi!? Do me a favour. Whereas Bertrand, maybe Alex Pearce and defo Alan Lee, did at least try to bring something to the mix. I think the 'stop bickering amongst ourselves' comment is unfair - surely it's to be expected with players leaving the club hand over fist but replacements not yet identified or in talks or anything. It would be fine to say judge them (DF / SW) on Jan 31st if the league shut down for the month but it doesn't, and so we play four or five crucial games in January without sufficient depth to the squad. I know CJ and RM and to an extent YW had become peripheral players this season, but their departure weakens a squad becoming reliably dependent (Hooray! ) on emerging youngsters who lack the big game experience and dressing room nous of their older peers. I like the polarised viewpoints and related stuff that goes with a transfer window and there's been - fortunately, no mud slinging or name calling to spoil the bantz Finally, the best of luck to Cameron and Russell at their new clubs. The fact that clubs of the stature of Derby and Rangers showed interest clearly suggests there's life in the old dogs yet!
I’m a bit worried about team cohesion, leadership and stuff. A lot of the big figures have been let go. Players who know the club. You have a bulk of players trying to learn the language and settle into the area. Who are our leaders? Who aren’t trying to settle to the club and the area? Wes and Maddison, maybe Josh, Pinto maybe?. Talk of Tetty leaving soon. I can’t imagine they feel like much of a “team” at the moment. What do you guys recon? Reassure me.
