Just looking at some pics of the Gorballs in the 40's in the mail. Interested to know what the machine is? Any ideas lads?

I like the idea of chestnuts or spuds but what about a machine for collecting horse **** and making it into briquettes for domestic use.

I thought that, or something similar. Note the large shovel .Too substantial for a roast chestnut vehicle.

Shovel for the coke and a bag of chestnuts on top and a string of cone shaped paper bags under the tarpaulin. This was the all-weather model with the all- season tyres...

On this day 16th January 1948 I came into this world and to reach the age of 70 is somewhat a miracle and something I never thought I would reach the three score years and ten. This year also is the 60th year of supporting Hull City AFC as 1958 was the first time I went through the turnstiles at Boothferry Park, and was smitten.

I have seen many owners come and go, and my only wish is that in my life time I can see the back of the Allam's and the club returning to the happy place it once was.

Many happy returns, John. <bubbly><ale><bubbly>

Happy birthday john. Well done for reaching it. Reminds me of a bloke I worked with many years ago, getting to three score and ten is all he banged on about. Sadly he never. So enjoy <ok>
Slightly off topic chaz! But a friends nan died recently she was 101! And on her death certificate in the cause of death box it read “ died of a glorious age “ which put a smile on everyone’s faces! :emoticon-0148-yes:

Best wishes for a very happy birthday, John. Have a wonderful day and I hope your wish comes true - and sooner rather than later!

And a very happy birthday to you John. I should imagine that like so many long serving and long deceased City supporters that you also had despaired of seeing our team in the top flight until that memorable day, (despite the owners). Hope springs eternal, we might one day have honourable guardians and again return to brighter days. Hope it’s in our time.
