Our highest earners were Fonte and Van Dijk. I can see our highest wage being 60k now, which is nothing in the Prem

Thought I had heard that Forster was on 80k?

I'd be astounded if our highest earner was only on 60k, reckon Fraser at minimum on comfortably more than that.

    That seems more likely.

Also is pretty irrelevant as the club still has to pay the £80k or whatever to Forster. He won't pay anywhere near full tax as well (or shouldn't if he is being advised correctly)

Still very low for a Prem team. We have got rid of our only 2 players that were on close to 100k. I know Gardos is on 30k and no one will touch him due to how **** he is.

I reckon Fraser is touching 100k or getting close to that.

That extension in the summer still riles me.

Even if you want to say Forster is on 80k, thay would leave 3 players on around 70k - 80k. Rest of our players are on 40k-50k or even lower.

Why quote net wages? He's on the books at £80k pw and that's what is deducted from our wage bill. All wage figures are gross in the PL so talking about after tax is just unnecessary. We have a number of players on around £60k - Boufal, Gabbiadini, Davis, Long off the top of my head. We've bloated our squad and paying £30-50k pw on bench players is just idiocy from the board.

Theo would have been a good signing if he played. Just what we need.

All these people saying we need to sign someone to hit the ground running may be disappointed. It could take any player a while to fit in. We also need to change the mentality/confidence in the camp and that could take a while too.

I understand what you're saying but we have to give ourselves the best chance possible of signing a player that can hit the ground running. For me that has to be someone who is already in the league and that may well mean having to pay a bit extra.

Oh I get the reasoning, just think it is quite tough to get that from a player who is likely not to be a regular starter at his current club, if a PL player. Therefore I expect whoever we sign to need some time and our fans aren’t the most patient :)

We’ve seen with our own players, that they need games and a run of games.

I mean thats fine but in terms of wage budget discussion, Forster is on £80k pw, not £60k.

I'm not even mad at Gardos, I'd do the same in his situation tbh.

That's why i think signing someone like Walcott not just his ability but his age and experience is what we need this window. In a normal window I would prefer a Dembele type player but this is not a normal window*.

*would still be over the moon if we signed Dembele

Same here, but just shows what a waste he has been. He has played about 10 first team games right?

Gardos is kinda just one of those things. He looked pretty decent before his injuries. Sometimes **** happens. It just adds on to the other stuff and makes the situation worse.

The thing is he was not half bad when he did play for us, I remember him being very good against Man Utd at Old Trafford when we kept a clean sheet. Obviously the injury didn't help but I can't help but feel he just got comfortable collecting his £30k odd and not playing.

Seen him play in quite a few academy games and the guy is trash. He keeps on being way out of position and not really looking like he is trying. Like you said injury and lazyness has got to him. Nice guy to chat to though, bump inti him a lot where I live.
