As much as I doubt we'll see that money, doesn't stop me thinking of players we could buy if I'm honest.

One player i'd love to see is Eden Hazard. We'd never get him though.

Time to start giving Vuckic match time I think Mr. Pardew. Oh and after that interview with BBC North, he has gone up in my estimations of him.

Agree with all of this <ok>

Would have liked to see Vuckic more but Ireland plays his position so maybe a loan to a CCC high flyer (with recall clause) wouldnt be bad.

Oh and never rule out something like Hazard (not him in particular, but a class player out of the blue), who'd have believed me before last summer if I told you we'd sign Hatem Ben Arfa?

^ This or even some average SPL team like Hibernain could benefit form him(Calderwood connection).

Ireland is a decent enough CAM, much quicker and skillful than Nolan, can pick a pass & has good creativity & great technique.

Not saying Nolan should be dropped, his goals and leadership are vital, although I'll personally prefer someone who'll be more involved in the game, have a influence(not just goals) in the general midfield play.. maybe I'm just asking for too much...

I think we just need to hope that our scouting team does the business. The usual names that are banded about from the prem all seem over-rated and over-priced to me. Think it may need to be someone special from the continent. Maybe even someone that is well off the radar at the min. We'll just have to watch this space.

How about Nolan upfront now then? Against Fulham we could have Jonas, Guthrie, Ireland & Barton in midfield with Nolan and pick one of our strikers to go up top with him?

Then when Tiote is back we could just drop Guthrie...

I like the idea of Nolan up front, in a supporting role for a main striker

Take out Nolan and we have no proven goal threat, he and Carroll must have around 80-90% of our goals this season. Undroppable IMO, not to mention his fantastic leadership.

When Nolan is in midfield he really works hard and runs himself into the ground getting back and forward (even if it isn't at the best of speeds) but upfront he won't have to help the defence out as much and can therefore use his energy to get into the box at the right time...perfect.

I dont like Nolan up front, he works great with Tiote because Tiote covers him and he's capable anyway in CM, much more pace is needed to play up front, and he doesnt have that. Play him in midfield, he is playing well (theoretically him and Guthrie should have been destroyed by Spurs/mackems). My earlier comment may be a bit misleading, I thought someone was suggesting dropping him.

Not all strikers have to get past players with the ball. Nolans goals are more about being in the right place at the right time, you don't need pace or skill for this, it just comes natural. Plus with him upfront (or just behind the lone striker) he won't have to help out the defence as much and therefore won't be as tired for the last 20min, like recent matches.

    Alright Kingsley, Sound mate you?

Yeah, watched Hazard against Liverpool and he was awesome tbh, would be well worth looking into I reckon.

I want to sign a Japanese player. This Shinji Kagawa was being tracked by Man U, but that went stone cold when he broke his Ankle. 21 year old, attacking midfield/striker/winger and a real hot prospect.
He's probibly a touch more likely to join than someone of Hazards ilk, still unlikely but worth a go i think.

And of course, Keisuke Honda would be a dream.

Pardew has admitted that the £35mil will cover both the transfer fees and wages, so if we sign a player on a 20k per week contract running for 4 years that's 4.16 million knocked off the 35 mill, nevermind the fee.
Not looking so rosy now is it?!

Quite simply 4 players I would realistically like to see us sign, DEMPSEY: proven in the premier league, can score goals and play in may positions. ODEMWINGIE: done very well this season in not the greatest of teams, 9 pl goals already, again can play on the wing if needed.DZSUDZSAK:amazing left winger who can also play centrally, just amazing again with a good scoring record. TOIVONEN: great player, tall, Carroll like but better with the ball at his feet.

We should afford that: Dempsey 7mil, Odemwingie 5mil, Dzsudzsak 8mil, Toivonen 10mil. The latter values might seem low but dutch sides are skint and have to sell.
