You always want these contracts to be about greedy players because that way there's nothing more the Allams could have done. Every other club seems to manage and not lose 5-6 of their most dependable first team players every season. We're consistently losing the very ones you don't want to lose in our position. Meyler and Dawson going will be an enormous blow. After that there really isn't much left of what made this team successful. Just nobodies from big clubs who think they're too good for us.

The big issue is the cost of replacing these out of contract players. You have a player who is settled in the area, know the clubs and the systems Adkins wants to play. It is worth offering him more wages to keep him. On top of this replacing any out of contract players is going to cost money, and with the way transfers are going replacing Dawson and Meyler won't come cheap, even average championship players (Dicko) cost £3m. Imagine wanting a decent centre back in the summer that will cost £3-5m, why not offer an existing players £1m more to keep him.

There is no benefit to letting the contracts run down like they have.

i do hope the winger we've gone for is Adelakun. He's got 3 goals and 9 assists so far. That's a terrific output and at £1m, he seems a bargain. If he did that for us or even half as good as what he's doing now, we'd make a fortune on him

Every bleeding window is an easy one for the Allams, sell anything that’s worth anything and buy the cheapest option you can to fill the gap. Nothing too it. Best run club in the country for ****s sake. How hard can it be.
