I thought that the player had been injured - maybe this is a chance for him to get some game time and get his fitness levels back to where they should be in a less stressful environment.
Hope he does well and shows exactly what he can do.

Recruiting may take us longer! Normally pinpoint a player we want but it takes ages to go through & in the end we lose to another club or the blokes fed up waiting

Agree. But like a few have said with the departures the likes of Eze, Smyth, Oteh, Bright and Wheeler should get more opportunity which will feel like new signings.

I would be very surprised if there wasn’t at least one incoming player.

For me never given enough of a chance or any run of games . I’ve said before ollys management of youth is always questionable. I feel manning furlong and wheeler have been handled badly and u can add goss to that list . Thrown in , then pulled out and go missing for weeks . And before anyone cherps up about Smyth , not been near the team all season , can someone explain why after what we witness week in week out . Another example of bad management.

Goss was a bizarre signing in the first place but you can’t blame Holloway for not playing him. The guy looks lost in the Championship completely after years of poncing around in meaningless youth games.

Who would you drop for Manning, Wheeler or Furlong? I like them all but they are squad players.

How can you turn picking Smyth into a negative?

I do wonder whether Olly's selections of keeping younger players out is to protect them a little when the team isn't doing so well. Or whether there have been clauses in contracts "stating that players have to play a specific number of games when fit and available". Cannot prove whether that is the reason but just putting this out there.
At least with youth the players have nothing to fear so maybe this is the way forward....only time will tell

Smyth was signed 5 months ago and not even been on bench . For me that’s a negative after seeing mackie up front for the majority of that time
Manning don’t start when any of the other three are out . How is that helping his development?
Furlong comes in plays the odd 45 / 60 mins and then nowhere .
Wheeler comes in out of position one decent game then bombed out .
These boys will only improve if given time and belief . What chance was Goss given . Hope he does well on loan .

Clever move. Buy the Burton team before the 13th.

I expect someone will put a good bid in for at least one of our midfield trio.

If we had to lose one of the three out of Scowen, Luongo or Freeman who would be the player you would let go?

Not suggesting I want to lose one of them, but another incoming midfielder does suggest it is distinct possibility.

According to the nett, Naylor has not played much this season or before and seems to have been converted to a CB from defensive midfield. Not getting into Burton team isn't promising.

I am sure that we were after him about a year / 18 months ago, then Burton turned down any offer and offered the player a new contract.
If the player is adaptable and able to play in two positions then this might be a good purchase however I do not know anything about him.

As much as I like him, I think Luongo would command the greatest fee. Very hard player to replace though and we would miss him if he went despite the criticism he still gets.

Good question. I REALLY like Luongo and Freeman: their effort, skill, creativity and, in Luongo's case especially, their tackling make them the stars of our team. We need stars, we need some excitement. If either of those two went, I might get all emotional and it could push me over the brink into not renewing my season ticket. I like Scowen, I like him a lot, but I think Hall and Manning could cover the defensive midfield role so I'd choose him to go. However, I think Freeman and Luongo would attract more interest and higher fees.

I have my fingers, toes etc. all firmly crossed.

Having read about him I can only assume that he is expected to be defensive cover, not a starter. Underwhelming career to date and at 27 not one for the future. Perhaps we are getting rid of Lynch.
