tuesday night is cuptie night and following shrews great win at still unbeaten derby in the league, shrews now progress to hosting premier side swansea. swansea form, pre season, swans 1 real betis 0, swans 2 celtic 0 league- man city 4 swans 0 swans 0 wigan 0 the swans team today was vorm gk, williams,taylor/ caulker, rangel, britton, sinclair, dyer, routledge, agustien and graham. on the bench moriera, tate, allen, gower, dobbie, lita and moore. it will be interesting to see if swans field a reserve side, all i can say is if the spirit shown at derby is alive at the meadow on tuesday night, town may marmalise them. bring on man utd etc floreat salopia, come on you shrews, amwythig am byth
Will be a big crowd (a number of people were picking up their tickets after the final whistle today) and if they put out reserves we will win, barring any cock ups.
let us hope a large crowd see another great town performance. come on you shrews, amwythig am byth, floreat salopia
The team will probably be same as weekend- Smith, Jacobson, SCS, Sharps, Grandison, Wright, WRoe, McAllister, Ainsworth, Morgan, Gornell. Would like to see Taylor get some game time soon.
it will be a difficult game for us thats for sure, and to be honest i cant see us beating them, but if we are to have any chance to beat a premiership side thease are the one's who i would choose, i don't know if they would put a full side out or not, but the will be experimenting in a few areas and we might be able to capitalise on that.
good luck for you guys tonight. we are fielding a strong team so hoping our stars shine tonight as they will get confidence through it. which we need for our season in the prem.
I do like the term "marmalise"! That is most definitely now in my vocabulary! Good luck to you guys too.
thanks rocky and we gave them a goal start. this is better than derby away, shame about forest but you do need to concentrate on the league
Excellent all round team performance tonight. The Swans exerted pressure at times but our defence coped well against the likes of Graham, Lita, Moore, Dobbie and Sinclair. On the other hand we exposed their back line frequently and had the bulk of the clear cut chances. Disappointing attendance, though, and those that failed to turn out I hope are kicking themselves.
Great performance tonight. We passed well and kept our shape and discipline superbly - didn't defend too deeply but didn't get drawn out to be passed around either. Grandison was excellent again, Morgan ran them ragged (should have scored early on but we have to accept the misses - he makes things happen), Wright was bang in form and how did we manage without Jacobson and Gornell? If JJ continues as he's started he'll quickly surpass Tierney and Sadler as the best left back in my shortish time watching Town. Terrific defensive work and a sweet left foot. We didn't manage to take the Derby form into the league. Let's try again - if we pull that off, we'll be promoted. However, that means imposing our passing game on a lot of opponents who'll deny us time on the ball. We have to have the confidence to play it through those teams. Won't be easy but the players have shown they have the ability. Two memorable highlights already this season - great stuff. Can't for the life of me understand why so many fans stay away from the Carling Cup and would rather go to a run of the mill league game instead. Some of our best games in recent seasons have been in this competition. Life's too short for a diet of bread and butter.
I read somewhere that we stepped up amdirably against admittedly a tad watered down PL opponents- the reason we were sooooooooooooo good and dare I saw it.. matched them? Is because in League 2 all they hope for is getting in 'yer face and nicking a goal from a set piece etc. At least some do. THis means should we ever get promoted, we'll be stood in pretty bloody god stead. A famous night, shame about the piddly crowd. Who were there(I was!) enjoyed it a lot. Even my old man. Roll on Swindon/Di Canio. COYS, FS, BOES, Amwythig am byth
