We do well against bigger clubs from higher leagues because of the way they play, it is the Macclesfields and Stevenage's we need to learn how to deal with.

I read somewhere that we stepped up amdirably against admittedly a tad watered down PL opponents- the reason we were sooooooooooooo good and dare I saw it.. matched them? Is because in League 2 all they hope for is getting in 'yer face and nicking a goal from a set piece etc. At least some do. THis means should we ever get promoted, we'll be stood in pretty bloody god stead. A famous night, shame about the piddly crowd. Who were there(I was!) enjoyed it a lot. Even my old man. Roll on Swindon/Di Canio. COYS, FS, BOES, Amwythig am byth

The poor crowds for Carling Cup ties baffle me (and it's the same for every club). If I wasn't a season ticket holder and had to pick my matches, I'd prefer to see some good quality and entertainment against a higher league footballing team than a routine league game against most teams in our league. There are 23 of those after all!

Ask me to name 4 of the best games I've seen in the last 2 years - easy, 3-3 v Ipswich, 4-3 v Charlton, 3-2 v Derby, 3-1 v Swansea. All Carling Cup ties, great performances, cracking atmospheres - not to mention aggregate goals of 13-9. Compare that to watching us against, say, Stevenage last season, or Lincoln forever. No contest, can't recall a single thing from such games now. The league's often overrated, the cups are under appreciated and it's a great shame. By the way, don't tell me watching league games is automatically better because they're "competitive" and the cups aren't. Pub football's generally competitive but that doesn't make it good to watch.

Right, off to see if there's any scope in having a go at Neil Warnock on the QPR pages for his idiotic, disrespectful (to Rochdale) and childish comments.

This was an excellent performance by the Town who played with no fear. Swansea were not rubbish as some may think, but were caught out by a far better team than they expected. It is easy to think oh they are only league two all we have to do is turn up but it doesn't work that way! one shot at goal is poor for a team in the Prem! I hope this is a lesson to them to never underestermate the opposition and hope they can hold their own in the Premiership. We have some great players at the town all they need to do now is be consistant and carry this form over to the league. Walsall must be quaking in their boots!!!

Well I did - and they seemed to agree with me! Unexpectedly good outcome.

Dalglish fielding a strong side at Exeter last night showed proper respect for the competition and the opposition, as did his players.
