To be clear my comments were only a vehicle for a Fleetwood Mac pun. Sorry for the confusion.
Just about precisely my thoughts. I feel much better about the club with Holloway as manager than I have for a long time, because he obviously only has one agenda - the club. But I have never rated him as a manager (though I admired his brave and bold approach with Blackpool in the PL, and respect his conversion from lump it to football). Now he has got a bunch of competent footballers (minus strikers) who clearly give their all every game. But we rarely win, we are not seeing players improve (Robinson aside, though the only thing to compare him with is an injured Robinson), we aren’t seeing young players breaking through, and we are not seeing progress, which doesn’t have to be spectacular and has to take into account the £ situation. A comfortable 11th or 12th place would be fine this year, but we are miles off. Hopefully we will struggle through this season, but wouldn’t expect much different next if Ollie is still around.Aside from strikers (which is plainly where we are deficient) that squad is easily good enough for top half in this league. I keep reading that we should aspire to what Bristol City have achieved this season, but we outplayed them for an hour at LR, and only succumbed when they resorted to the kind Neanderthal tactics that Holloway often employs when chasing a game. Not much to admire there from a footballing perspective, but they are up the other end of the table from us, chasing Wolves (who of course we beat at LR). The difference can only be the manager, who is presumably more consistent than Holloway with his selections and tactics. Holloway is not a good tactician and there must be doubts about the quality of coaching that the first team squad is getting. I have been a supporter of Holloway based on his motivational abilities and his being a 'QPR man' - something which I think is very important to the new club ethos and shouldn't be underestimated - but it's becoming harder and harder to see how he is going to take club forward. The next couple of games may well make the difference between stick and twist.
Come on you are a man of the world
Mystified, at first, then I got it. Knew I would sooner or later...
I bet you’re partial to a particular brand of fizzy orange after dark?
