PE has accepted a new role as an advisor to the FA. He’d been saying for a while he was more focused on rebuilding his image. Others said he was plotting a takeover. Should hopefully put that rumour to bed for a bit.
PLenty of excitement on CL about the Middle East rumour. Could RedHenry have beaten Airperson to the punch?
The takeover thread on CL is buttock clenchingly embarrassing. Lucky we haven't got any posters on here who contributed to it A word of caution about "Red Henry" - 9 months ago he said Robinson was going to Wigan.
By far the most interesting posts from ex Director (?) David Smith. RD had done a deal, but it has stumbled because he then realised that the ex directors would have to be paid back (by him) out of the selling price, effectively leaving him with very little. You might think this is staggering naivety from a businessman, but it has resulted in RD now seeking a buyer who will take on the ex Directors debentures & charged, leaving him to walk away with the full selling price. DS also states that all of the ex Directors with charges now want their dough back, not just Murray.
Staggering Naivety does not even begin to cover it. Duchatelet could never have become so wealthy if he was such a fool. It cannot be true.
For all his failings, the President is supposed to be a competent businessman. How could he come so close to an agreement to sell CAFC and not be aware of such a simple but crucial detail. Duchatelet surely has an army of lawyers and advisers whose job it is to know about this stuff. If an 'imminent' deal has been scuppered for the reason stated above by "Davidsmith" it is an astonishing example of incompetence. More ridiculous than any of the poor footballing decisions made by his regime at Charlton. It means the owner of CAFC is not just a man with no talent for running football Clubs because his real acumen lies in other fields of business, he is a bungling idiot and frankly a laughing stock.
Kind of agreeing with some of what you say but have slightly different view on this. 1, The buyout was evidently done at breakneck speed. 2, He would no doubt have put this in the hands of lawyers, who I can only assume he had had previous successful dealings with and therefore trusted.......(which may or not be the case of course). 3, My thoughts are that either they didn’t do a good job or he was too busy to check it out personally ......though I expect he would have someone else to do that “other than the lawyers” and point out any such anomalies to him. How funny would it be if it was Pussy Galore herself and that’s why she’s been kicked into touch......bit of fanciful thinking on my part I agree but worth reflecting on! You all know that I haven’t a good word to say about Goldfinger.....some would say he’s quite possibly a sociopath of some nature. However on this occasion (if true), I would suggest it’s someone else who hasn’t picked this up who should have done and highlighted it before he put pen to paper.
Lardi, I think we now have an explanation of why Meire and Joyce left so quickly, Meire was RD's Lawyer during his DD and Joyce is/was the current Finance Director of the Club and obviously neither of them explained the importance of the preferential nature of the former Directors/Murray's debt ..... RD was obviously of the opinion that either he could (a) just 'pass on' the debt obligation or (b) subordinate this ex-directors debt below his own. He has now been told that the former directors debt is preferential and must be paid out first (also it now seems payable with a change in ownership not just promotion to PL?) which I guess has made him angry. Exit Meire and Joyce from our story. With his main two reasons for owning Charlton now gone - 1) Owning a English Football Club for his network 2) Giving Meire a job she obviously enjoyed We have to ask ourselves what is the reason for him to continue to cover the monthly losses? As far as I can see the answer to this is that there is no reason to continue ownership and the sooner he accepts the real world situation and sells at a loss the better for him.
I think you will find mate that all my opinions are copyright so you will be hearing from my Lawyer Miss Meire..... ahh?? .... hang on Houston I think I have a problem
Like the old story of catching a monkey by leaving a narrow-necked jar full of nuts. The monkey grabs a handful of nuts but his fist is too big to release him from the jar so there he stays.
This is an incredible & ridiculous state of affairs. And right in the middle of a transfer window. Once again, it begs the question about what the f*ck the football authorities are doing about it?
