Signing a player like Balotelli would suggest we (or our new owners) had abandoned the Southampton Way....at least the part that says character is important.

Sorry, the Southampton Way is tosh. That got well & truly burned ages ago (if there ever way, & I’m SfC through & through). Just PR crap.

Balotelli would also match that cryptic message from Leandre Griffit a couple of days ago.

Balotelli has been back in fine form in his 18 months so far in Nice.
He has recently become a father and seems to have flourished from being away from the media spotlight. He is 27 now and perhaps he has done a lot of growing up

Nice also have Chinese owners, I know there is a billion of them, but perhaps their is a business connection between ownerships?

Our new owners have been quiet about their intentions, but perhaps they think a “marquee” signing will be a way of launching a new era

Everton, Southampton, Crystal Palace and West Ham have been linked with a January move for 29-year-old Atletico Madrid attacking midfielder Nicolas Gaitan. (AS)

Daniel Sturridge, 28, fears Liverpool will block his move away from Anfield, with Stoke and Southampton in the hunt for the striker, which could put his World Cup hopes in doubt. (TSun)
