I mised the match live and went to see Star Wars - The Last Jedi instead. I found out about the result after the film, and it sounds like The Force was as much in evidence at Old Trafford as it was at the cinema. As long as the rebels can stick together/regroup and we don't miss Skywalker's presence too much, we should easily take down the Palace Death Star (to mix several metaphors and more than one Star Wars film).

I’m not sure mixing Star Wars metaphors with football is going to catch on.

Didn't see whole match, but from highlights it looked like McCarthy had some luck which Saints have sadly lacked this season. On MOTD, they showed that the ball was likely to have gone in if Pogba hadn't intervened when offside. I'm not taking one clean sheet as a sign that McCarthy is better than Forster....only time will tell.

I must admit I felt far more confident during the game with AM between the sticks and cheered everytime he left his line to catch the ball. With FF I get nervous even with a back pass. Keep him in goal

Just got back. Mercifully managed some kip on the coach. Very long day.
Be interested to hear from those at the match what the atmosphere was like, it came across a bit strange on BT Sport in that you could here our fans giving it large but that was it other than screaming at the officials everytime they didn't get a decision of any type

If only we could all realise that atmosphere in the ground does play an important role and we could actually support the team properly at St Mary’s

I sit in chapel and nobody sings, gets a bit irritating. But I can see why crowds have become quiet, the football on display has been dire at st marys.

I agree - I’m in Itchen Family section. I just feel that negativity breeds negativity both ways. Sick of the disgusting comments and abuse of certain players coming from behind us - not only offensive to the players concerned but also to my children! Positivity breeds positivity and it can come from fans and players. Why should we wait any longer for the players to go first....?

Mourinho was jeered as he went off at Old Trafford. Mauricio must have thought they were playing his song.<laugh>

He and the Utd fans deserve each other really, both behave in a spoilt, immature, entitled manner.
I just can't understand why he's not ridiculed more by the press. Not enough hundreds of millions to spend, expected to play the same No of games as other teams, other clubs try to win points? It's all very unfair.

I took some hope* from the game, some evidence of real spirit as well as some better football played in dificult circumstances.

* A New Hope.

To be fair, the Chapel is always quiet. It's a joke that it's our home end, but this seems to be universally true of all PL

The Chapel made plenty of noise when they had the clackers, but got moaned at, can't win with our miserable crowd.

Clackers are horrendous, they only help some clubs with timing but our support can't even use those in time...

Our support at home is shameful but as someone said we're by no means alone in that.

Simple solution is safe standing, and I believe that momentum is finally growing on this.
