I have zero faith either but signing a few players is always fun Even better if a new and more capable manager gets a shot with the squad.
If it's a loan with him looking to the world cup then I'm sure he'll be well up for giving it everything while proving a point and I'm all for it. Definitely don't want to buy him though.
Walcott isn't overly injury prone imo, certainly not on the same level as Sturridge anyway. It's also why I'd object massively to a permanent deal for Sturridge - a club like Liverpool can afford to have a player on 80k+ who's injury prone but a club our size simply can't afford to have what would be a top earner who's thar injury prone imo.
I'm not sure that both Walcott and Sturridge would be the way to go. One of them plus a younger player...either a Mane-type wide man who can create via chaos from a wide position, or a central playmaker to pick out our attacking runs. Or both, but both won't happen.
Unless the player in France is Malcom? *prays really hard* *forgets he’s an atheist for the moment* (It’s much more likely to be Mubele).
Again which is why a loan is fine, very low risk as long as he's not the only attacking player we buy. I'd suspect we wouldn't have to pay 100% of his wages either tbh. Them scouse tossers owe us a favour or two by now surely?
If it’s a defender, Adama Soumouro or someone dodgy like that probably. Though secretly I hope it is.... .... ..... ....... BALOTELLI
We sign Sturridge on loan. He smashes the goals in over the subsequent four months, keeping fit in the meantime, and gets himself a spot on the plane to Russia. West Ham are taken by those four months, so sign Sturridge for £25m in July on wages of £150k per week. Sturridge spends the next two years injured 70% of the time.
He was on my wishlist a few pages back. Alban Lafont or Malang Sarr would be good options, unless they have serious interest from bigger clubs It’s fun knowing we have a bit of dosh and look like spending it
MP2 has said the VVD could be good for saints if we reinvest wisely and that he has handed his wishlist in! Clearly he will have a say after all
I'm not sure we're going to end up spending that much of it, mind. Mawson's more realistic as a summer signing, unless Swansea really wants to get back to the excitement of the Championship. Sessegnon also has a "kicking the tires" feel about it; I'd be pretty surprised if he came in this window. Would think our window will probably be Walcott/Sturridge plus Mystery Frenchman, and hope that tides us over until the summer.
