I think he'll stay until the summer. Can't see him going in Jan when he's CL cup tied. Makes sense for all parties involved.
not sure spending £75m on a player who hasn't had a good game in nearly a year is going to delight him in long term. Anyways just to cheer myself up i'm off to the docs as after 4 weeks of antibiotics plus Flamzine the wound on my foot is still infected
This is a huge signing for us. Let’s make no mistakes, City wanted him but he always wanted Liverpool - this is the Klopp effect. Klopp made him the number 1 target in the summer and whilst I wished we would have signed him earlier, we now have a player that a) Klopp wants and b) who is ready to run through brick walls for us. The fee is huge - plenty on here complain that we don’t spend enough. VVD is a complete defender. He’s very good defensively, physical beast, fast, strong and one of the best in the air. His passing is too quality as wel - this is very important for us as we look to play out from the back. Most importantly, we’re getting a leader. Someone who will at least try to organise the defence. A quality defender can improve those around him, and that is crucial. I expect VVD to be type to bollock people. I also expect him to be captain for next s season. Chin up people - the fee is huge but we’re getting a quality player in return. And it also means we don’t have to deal with those tossers at Soton for a while now. They can all **** off.
Watching Barca cruise past Real the other day, they don't need him yet either. Iniesta is more than capable of playing 60-70mins by which time they've already won.
We need another CB, GK and specialist DM in the Kante mould. We don't need anything up front unless Couthino goes.
Last summer changed the transfer landscape imo. There is no value at anytime so it will not surprise me if we have a busy January and a quiet Summer. The worlds gone mad.
Honestly...id concentrate on a keeper and DM type now. I think Gomez can be phased in as CB beside VD over this season and they can be the starting 2. Both powerful energetic and have best chance of coping with being more exposed under our system. Get a holding midfielder who actually has a brain and I think the exposure will be reduced. It'll never completely go away but say a 50-60% reduction? I'm happy. A commanding keeper to help reduce the **** ups in set pieces. After that.... we can upgrade other positions when we like lol.
Don’t think we could get a decent keeper this time of year. Plenty out there better than what we have but it’s finding the right one. We want to improve without having to look to improve again in a couple of years time. Who would your realistic picks be?
Has he already signed for someone? Keepers are difficult to find. I thought Pickford was a good buy for Everton. I think Butland would also be a decent buy and arguably slightly ahead of Pickford atm. City picked up Ederson for a cool £35m and he's proved a great buy for them....last season they were hot and cold and that's the difference that a top keeper makes....sweeping, saving, starting the break..... I'm not sure who else would be available
There has been no shortage of defensive assessment too, where Jose Gimenez, Aymeric Laporte and Manuel Akanji are just three attractive candidates. Melissa Reddy
Keita and Van Dijk just the start of Klopp's masterplan to strengthen Liverpool's spine. Goretzka, Milinkovic-Savic, Lemar mentioned as potential targets here. (@MelissaReddy_)
