Isn't there a rule you can bring in two cup tied players into your squad after group stage? Or did they stop that rule at some point?
vvd is not cup tied. he can be added to the CL squad.

the 25 man squad can be changed before the last 16. this is first feb and up to 3 changes can be made.
one player may have played eruopa league and be registered for cl but not if he played group stage of cl.
clyne was not in cl squad and there is no news so he may be ommitted again.
VVD will be registered so theres room for two more

Not delusion or he wouldn’t have spent 75m on VVD. Just saying quality in that position to keep current crop happy. Notgonna come out and say yeah he’s gonna be replacing the sit show we currently have
Liverpool will NOT sell Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona in January to finance their deal for Virgil van Dijk.
The Reds have agreed a £75m deal with Southampton for the Dutch defender, who will join Liverpool on January 1.
However, The Daily Telegraph say the Van Dijk deal and Coutinho’s proposed move to Barca are not linked.
The Spanish giants are expected to table a bid for the Brazil playmaker when the transfer window opens next month.
Coutinho handed in a transfer request in the summer but a deal wasn’t agreed.

My point was more along the lines of our defence has let us down(along with our keeper's)so many times this season, if we turn the drawn winnable games into wins we're clearly 2nd in the table.
He said we already had "quality" but he's blind to what everyone else can see, yes he's hardly going to name players that aren't up to it but he keeps choosing them, it must be a sickener for the attacking players, they do all the graft and get us a three or two goal lead and then the defence caves in.
Coutinho won't leave in January. Wouldn't be surprised for the deal to be struck in advance of the summer though when he will clearly leave
His Brazilian teammate at Barca(Paulinho)has been scouting for houses for Couthinho, cheeky barsteward.
Or he recognises that we are disorganised at the back and players like Lovren, Matip and Moreno need guidance on the pitch.
I think Lovren will be much improved with a leader alongside him. Someone that tells him what to do.
I think the first choice partnership will be VVD and Matip though.
Hopefully have same influence on migs.

I think the keeper is different. You can't exist outfield players to guide keepers throughout the game. Keepers need to be dominant over their defence, not the other way around.
Well Carra or hyypia would have told migs what to do so disagree.
They'd have given him s rollicking without doubt. What I mean is, they can't tell when to come or when to stay whilst looking forwards AND watching the line AND organising the rest of the defence.
A keeper is the only real individual on the pitch. He lives and dies by his own decision irrelevant of what others are doing on the pitch
