MP2 going nowhere for the moment then I guess...
Yep, looks like they're committed to backing him in the window.

I did say on the transfers front previously that I felt sorry for MP2 missing out on a couple of his first choice targets in the summer.

This time, go out there and get his #1 picks. Let there be no excuses. I still doubt his tactical nous, but if we're gonna back him let's back him properly and nail the exact people he wants and then it's over to him and the guys in the red and white shirts.

Alternatively, pick out some profiles that suit the club and get some good players in. And get on the blower to some good managers too.

Hmm.

The last paragraph for me.

Indeed. Not sure I want us going anywhere near MP's preferred options (unless they also happen to the club's preferred options too). Sounds far too much like Redk*app style to me.

I mean, what happens if MP doesn't then turn it around, and gets sacked in February or March? We're then left with his players...

If we spend big, and keep him in charge, he should be thankful enough just for that. A darn sight more than Puel got. He hardly deserves to also call the shots when it comes to spending that money.

Who were his #1 Targets in the summer?

I wasn't Puel's biggest fan (though certainly not his biggest detractor, either), but it's utterly mind-boggling that we wouldn't back him -- either in the market or in job security -- yet we're prepared to do so with Pellegrino, a guy with basically no track record of being the guy we want him to be, after four months of pretty awful play and no indication of improvement.

Edit: and no indication that he even intends to be the guy we want him to be. Les' introduction stated that Pellegrino was going to bring back high-pressing, free-flowing attacking football. You can maybe claim that it's the lack of players preventing the attacking football, but we have made absolutely no attempt to institute a press in any meaningful way.

Giroud, Walcott, Chambers, Welbeck. Maybe Mustafi and Ospina too. Just give Wenger the whole £75m - he'll need it to replace Sanchez.

The board would win the transfer market it we brought him in.

The amount of times I look at a West Ham or an Everton or a Leicester or whoever, and find myself really jealous at a particular signing they have made. Us signing Giroud, although unlikely to happen, would finally see the boot on the other foot. We'd be the envy of every team outside the top six.

West Ham?

I know people slate Long, however I cannot see why we are desperate to sell when he applies himself and is one of the players still looking committed. I would much rather keep him until the summer with such meager attacking options as we currently have.

He wants out himself, he wanted out in the summer but decided to give the new manager a chance to see if he would get more game time. Given our lack of goals, we need attackers that can score goals. Get some money in for him, release his wages and bring in a replacement. Seems a good result for all involved!

Long is the most meagre of all our attacking options. His hard work and attitude are great, but how many points has that won us?
