We are all looking for someone to blame for the rubbish we are playing at the moment. There should be no doubt that some things have got to change, either that or we will be in the championship next season. Buying/loaning one or two good players may help but I have my doubts. Our first priority has to be to stay in the premier. So it looks doubtful if we can do that with our present management team. Does anyone else think it is odd we have not replaced Black yet? Do you think it is because they are likely to change the manager soon? The replacement bringing in his own team? Just a thought......
The only thing that I have heard is there have been a lot of meetings over the last 3/4 weeks. One of which was a very long meeting Which I gather lasted quite a long time. Where as most only last about an hour/hour and half normally. Not sure if that is in any way relevant........although apparently unusual. My source wouldn't say if these meetings were held at St Mary's. So read into that what you will...............
Good question; logic says take the 75M from Liverpool; but if we ever get serious again about getting ourselves back to a top eight team we need to consider which squad you would prefer not to strengthen and for me that would be Liverpool. If we are aspirational: we do not sell to Liverpool; if we want to f#$k over Liverpool - then sell him to City. Two wins in my book.
Interesting way of thinking about it. We aren't competing with city and won't be for some time. We have finished above Liverpool recently and can do so again. I'd rather keep them close
But when we were "competing" with Liverpool much more than we are now, we sold them player after player, why would that be different now when we are much further away from competing with them than before?
Yea read that the other day..........as I understand our complaint regarding the tapping up of VVD remains on file.....so unless we invite them to bid, they can't .....hence their searching elsewhere.
How much we get for VVD will be irrelevant, if not reinvested wisely. £75m? That’s around 35% of Gao’s outlay in one transfer, should he want to keep it.
Walcott, Giroud, Sturridge, Dembele, Chambers, Shaw, Mawson, Milner. (Little point in me suggesting overseas players, due to my lack of knowledge - but no doubt there is an endless list there). Whether on loan, or permanent, if Virgil's departure means that we have £50m to £80m to spend in January, then I think we should be looking at that above list. (I suspect it will be much closer to £50m, but who knows. It's not just about how much of the Virgil money will we reinvest, but also how much we can spend even without the money. At some point we do need to loosen the purse strings, and spend more than we bring in. It's not necessarily the case that we'd be adding the Virgil money to a budget of zero.) No point in suggesting Barkley or Zaha, as I highly doubt we are big enough for either.
Copying this over from my other post... K Billy over on SaintsWeb says we have at least a couple of deals close to completion. Definitely got a striker which inevitably seemed to be coming, plus Shane Long is in the process of being sold.
