I was unsure of him last season/start of the summer - but he worked his bollox off to get a few of the deals over the line. A couple of the players are on crazy bonus initiatives, and you could hear how sheepish he was when having to offer them. That said, he seems like a ''wheeler dealer'' and in this case I see it as a positive as I doubt many people could have remained as motivated as him.
I had a schoolteacher who used to say it. I found out more recently that it is a very old saying, which appeared in Punch magazine in the 19th century.
Could be.....but he doesn’t have a lot of clout if the club being for sale rumours are to be believed. I can’t see Goldfinger raiding his piggy bank in January and if anything I predict players leaving rather than joining.
So Dr Kish thinks we are looking to bring Stephy Mavididi back on loan from Ar5e... that sort of loan will make sense to me.... doubt if sale will go through before end of Jan so new owners will be looking to next summer for their transfer business. http://www.cafcpicks.com/cgi-bin/drkish/display.pl?month=201712&date=20171231&time=0430
Last time we had Mavididi he got crocked after five games. He would be a decent addition to the side if he stays fit. Mavididi has been on loan at Preston, but the loan spell has apparently not gone well for him. I don't have any details but could that mean he has not been played much? So we might have to be patient with him if he comes to SE7, as he might not be match-sharp. Our promotion push is in danger now, even if we win our next two league games. The best we can hope for it seems is to blag one of the lower play-off places. We need players who can have an immediate impact - preferably players who are getting games and are in some kind of form. Obviously those kinds of players come at a hefty premium in January. So I guess we will have to be content with potential and taking a hopeful punt or two. But we knew this was going to happen way back in the summer, which is why the whole situation is so infuriating. The new owners will hopefully be able to lay down a proper strategy for promotion, to be implemented next season.
There are rumours of Igor Vetokele returning to us. We are also interested in Eoin Doyle, but he is out with a blood clot and Kieffer Moore who is returning to Ipswich.
But probably still better than anything we've got - If his attitude was right surely he'd have something to offer in this league.
If we are paying for him we might as well use him (novel approach). Ditto Ajose. As you say, he is better than what we currently have
Heard that another club is coming in for Konsa... Burnley. Apparently had him watched at Wigan. Tarks injury has pushed them in to looking at defenders as cover. Should note the last point would seem to suggest if this move materialises then there wouldn’t be a loan back.
Seems to be a cert - there’s been enough spoken about it publicly. Maybe we can get Ulvestad(sp) back as part of the deal. That’s a joke before blood starts to boil.
Familiar Pardew tactics in the media today - acknowledging WBA are skint & don’t have the money for players ...and in the same sentence asking the owner for 3 quality players in January. He did this so often at Charlton. Another Harry Redknapp - literally couldn’t give a toss about the long term security of the club’s he works for.
Newcastle fans singing "You're getting pardew in the morning" when they played West Brom has to be song of the season.
