Morning... Just wanted to clarify where we are currently... -different manager, similar issues -need new blood player wise in key positions -VvD is very, very surplus to requirements apart from the money he will generate -very important transfer window for Mr Gao -Uncle Les needs to really start justifying his current salary rather than living off 2/3 years ago -we are crowd funding the new messiah Tuchel. Have been watching from a far and trying to get a more rounded opinion on what’s going on.
Questions could be asked if this was with breakfast. I find alcohol doesn't dull my Saints pain. Having virtually my entire local family and circle of friends supporting bloody Liverpool obviously doesn't help. Meeting for a cheery drink with people gloating over another 4-0 display (and Lovren bloody scored) does nothing to lift my spirits. I recall after Thatcher's third election win, a mate asked me why didn't I vote Tory and spare myself the agony. Similarly, I have Red sirens trying to entice me to support Herr Klopp's lot. Not tempted. Now if they all supported City .. get thee behind me, Satan!
I am pretty sure that Les would love a strong and effective manager, so he could concentrate on what he does rather than feel the need to get involved in first team affairs. A great manager would reflect well on him and he could stay nicely in the background....I don't think he wants it any other way.
https://talksport.com/football/sout...agent-dismisses-speculation-striker-set-serie Gabbi's agent denies that he is considering moving back to Serie A....but ends by saying never say never. It looked like we had found a super striker in Gabbiadini, but he has struggled recently....though he is not alone in that. What it has shown is that with the right supply he is a good striker....but he is not a man to take the game into his own hands as, for instance, Rickie would.
Gabbiadini has never been an out and out striker, it really confuses me why people think he is. He's spent all of his career playing as a wide forward who cuts inside.
I think his best return is something like 9 league goals with Sampdoria. I don't know why we bought him to play him out of position, but you know, the board is perfect so no criticism allowed.
There was talk at the time that we signed him that he wanted out of Napoli because he wanted to play centrally, rather than wide. I said when he was banging in goals at the start that he would be our Jelavic, start well but fade to nothing. I am a pessimistic bastard though so I would've probably said that about Messi if he joined us.
Yeah same here, but ultimately I'd like to see Austin do something useful outside the box. He's good in the box but that was never really in doubt, he needs to offer more though for me.
He was a wide forward at Sampdoria, moved to Napoli and played central for a bit but never nailed down a regular spot there due to Higuain so was put out wide again. He's got too much technical ability to be compared with Jelavic, but I know what you're saying. He is known in Italy for being a player that goes on goalscoring runs then fades for long periods.
Yeah I'm not saying he did play centrally at Napoli, just that was his preferred position so was apparently the reason he wanted to leave. He is a better player than Jelavic/Cisse but for some reason just struck me as a player who would follow that route of starting amazingly only to fade away very quickly. Whether or not that is his fault or that we as a team aren't set up to play to his strengths is another argument.
Ha. I remember mentioning Jelavic too, not quite as pessimistic as you but more of a warning when he was banging them in left right and centre. He's better than Jelavic for me though. We just need to set up to play to his strengths.
That's not Austins game though and never will be, he's a goal scorer and that's about it, he's very good at it too so I won't be complaining if he's banging them in.
But he does work hard out side the box. Tracks back more than he should. Took a yellow for the team a couple games ago that surely would have led to a goal were it not for his intervention.
gabbi was making some lovely runs , but no one in our side can pick the pass. its been our problem for a couple of seasons. only sims and hesquith have that type of game, hoping they get gametime
I’m sorry but I don’t buy this line loads of people go on about Gabbiadini bring the only one who makes runs. What a load of horse ****. We do score goals, have quite a few shots, and I notice Austin got played in as soon as he came on v Chelsea, and people moaned saying Gabbi would have loved that opportunity. Well, fact is, we did find the pass and do still make chances. Perhaps Gabbi isn’t as good as some links to think, and he should adapt his game or make different runs, ones that lead to chances.
