Liverpool will not make a move for defender Virgil van Dijk unless Southampton lower their £70m valuation for the 26-year-old Dutchman. (Irish Independent) Mauricio Pellegrino has handed Liverpool FC a fresh boost in their reported pursuit of Virgil van Dijk by admitting that he is powerless to stop the defender from leaving Southampton in the January transfer window. The Reds were heavily linked with a move to sign Van Dijk early on in the summer transfer window but a move failed to materialise after Southampton accused the Merseyside outfit of an alleged illegal approach. Liverpool FC issued a statement back in June apologising for their conduct ads they publicly withdrew their interest in the 26-year-old. Liverpool set to fork out fee to Roma as Salah reaches 20 goals Date published: Sunday 17th December 2017 6:33 http://www.teamtalk.com/news/liverpool-set-to-fork-out-fee-to-roma-as-salah-reaches-20-goals
Klopp likes to buy his players early in the summer so that they all can learn the system in time for the new season. Mane and Salah show clearly that this helps players to adapt quickly. Ox and Robertson joined later in the summer and both have taken a while to settle. For this reason, im not convinced that we'll buy anyone in the January window unless it makes financial sense to do so.....which hasn't been the case for a few windows now....
It sounds to me like the dance is beginning. Have LFC just leaked that the fee will be a lot lower story to prime the pump or has the press hack made it up Or have southampton put it out? who knows. What I do think is that in my opinion blind thick headedness cost southampton 60-65mil in the summer and there is no way the player is going anywhere for that sort of fee now. His performances simply don't merit it.
If VVD is a reasonable price, not £70m, and we can get him in January I think we may sign him. Other than that I would be surprised if we sign anyone.
Why the **** would €100m offer for Salah "convince" Real we'd sell him, when allegedly £140m offer from Barca for Couthinho never forced FSG's hand. Real Madrid want to sign Mohamed Salah from Liverpool and are convinced the Anfield side will sell the Egypt winger for 100m euros or in a player-plus-cash deal involving Wales forward Gareth Bale. (Calciomercato via Teamtalk)
Yep, Bale thinks he's too good for the likes of us anyway, but the only thing Bale's good at recently is getting injured. But it won't be the only "fake" Salah story, Marca will have their say on it soon enough.

Would be a bit concerned about signing anyone from the Chinese leagues.....they've gone there for the money and have likely strolled through the last couple of years.....would they still be hungry?
I can see where you are coming from. It's down to the individuals at end of day and attitude and desire. We had Joe Cole who didn't go anywhere and couldn't be arsed in this country. He any worst than players who have gone to China for the money?
this is the guy who rejected us to **** off over there right? Well 1. we can't afford to be up our own holes about being rejected. cos we would not have salah if so. 2. the issue with coming from these leagues is fitness and pace of game IMO. he could be a cracking player but he won't be anywhere near the fitness levels nor at the pace of the game. you buy for say august now cos thats getting him fit. 3. he is now 27. so if he's gone off the boil it is very hard get it back 4. his record over there is not stellar and doesn't compare well to shaktar record.
Salah didn't reject us did he? Thought it was a fee issue and he only had choice to go to Chelsea at time.
welll... he didn't really. I suppose you are right. We never gave him a chance to due to that fee you are right. Willian rejected us, then shafted spurs for chelsea. Slaah would prob have gone to cheslea anyway at the time.
i'd say he was running out of options at that point. he certainly got highest possible wages but if a chinese side stepped in then i would agree that he'd have gone there. he missed that boat just by when the chinese market took off.
Big test if true. Whenever we play well and we have an outstanding player, one of the Spanish giants inevitably come sniffing. Alonso, Masch, Suarez, Coutinho - the list is endless. Now we have Real (the big one) coming to pick up Salah. No wonder we've not got a title winning team for the last 27 years. Because each time our team looks strong, they get dismantled with the top players being sold. I have no doubt that Madrid won't stop at Euro100m , which was only their opening bid. They will bid £120m and FSG may well accept. That would mean a tidy profit and release more funds for more quality players. Selling is not an issue . It is the recruting and the use of that money. Other clubs can do it why can't we?
