Disagree. I’d like to see Messi on a ****ty, pouring with rain, freezing cold night up against WBA or the like. See how good he is then.
I'm not saying he's sub standard...he's good..but not Messi good. Messi makes goals, scores goals and digs his team out of the ****...even if a hat trick is required...seen him do that for over a decade now. KDB has got a long way to go before I think he's to be talked about on that level. This league was making that Lesta team look like world beaters a few seasons ago...I seriously think Messi would rape everything in sight.
He's played Champions League games in Eastern Europe and Russia that are tougher than going to The Hawthorns mate.
To be honest we were ****...no grit about us...powder puff bollocks. Pissed me right off did that demeanour during the City game
I'm not knocking either Messi or Ronaldo ... but I don't understand the reluctance to recognise a player in outstanding form currently ... City have now set a record for consecutive wins in the EPL and the little ginger maestro is pulling the strings superbly ... not only domestically but in Europe ...and in a season when we have 5 teams n the knock-out stages of the Champions League ...doing it when it really counts is the real mark of a top player for me
Messi has swept aside the top clubs his entire career... including 3 of those teams you've just listed... I'm not sure where you're going with this now.
... in contrast we gave City a game ... but were undone by pure quality ... admittedly Kompany should have walked before a goal was scored and that might have changed the complexion of the game ... but KDB carved us to bits AND scored a doozer of an individual goal ...you can always tell when an opposition player is putting in a stunning performance because even the home fans murmur approval ...
No doubt Messi was/still is one of the all time greats. But as has been said, he’s done most of it in a sub standard league that is dominated by 2-3 teams, with the rest nowhere. The same applies to Ronaldo. The EPL is certainly the most competitive league in the world, if not the best in absolute terms. KDB does it pretty much week in week out against all comers. Yes, he has to prove himself over the longer term. But right now he’s absolutely world class.
This is what it comes down to, at this moment he is up there with the best he now has to do it long term. Spanner into the works though. Those saying Silva is better are on smack.
... playing his entire career with the likes of Xavi, Iniesta and co ... he's never really done it with Argentina has he? ... now don't misunderstand, I'm a huge fan and have always preferred him to Ronaldo in that particular debate ... but it would be interesting to see how he would perform over here ... and at the moment KDB is setting the EPL alight ...
... and somebody remind me ... when was the last time that an Eastern European team won the Champions League ... or even made the semis?
This happens every time, somebody makes a statement saying 'A isn't as good as B' and the opposition attempt to justify A being a great player as if the person making the statement has said 'A is crap'. Like Beadle's handful? Not sure what you're getting at, playing Shakhtar is more difficult than playing WBA mate.
So Messi has to do it with Stoke to prove himself yet KDB can justify it whilst being part of the most expensive squad ever assembled?
