Same as alcohol then. Far more people are addicted to Alcohol than all other drugs combined. Too many lives are lost through injecting **** like rat poison. Government doesn't care though as they save money... they could be making the money in the first place. There's a lot to think about before it would be put in place, it's clearly not as simple as making it legal and opening injecting centres. You'd need medical cards to enter etc. etc. etc. etc.
i know alcohol can be addictive, but that's not everyone. That's only for the really really bad alcoholics from what i understand? As for Heroin, isn't the addiction rate like 99% because of the changes to the body even in the short term?
deffo this. I don't think users should be criminals. I think we've passed the point where people aren't innocently dragged into drugs. They should deffo be handing this out and slowly weaning people off hard drugs via the NHS. As for dealers, they should still be dealt with so i guess it should be based on the quantity people are holding?
No mate, that's a very simplistic way of looking at it. Alcohol is just as addictive as heroin, yes you can get addicted to heroin in a quicker time, but any substance that offers escape and is physically addictive has the same results. There's far too many variables to make assumptions like heroin will 99% of the time get you addicted. I've met hundreds of people that have taken heroin once or twice. I know some weekend users too, and they're fine. Horses for courses I guess but alcohol is 100 times worse for your body than heroin. I was in active addiction (IV heroin use mainly) for 2 decades. Got clean and my body is functioning perfectly. An alcoholic that drinks daily for 2 decades would damage their bodies for life. There's a huge myth that heroin is bad for you, it's not, it's the lifestyle that is. Whereas alcohol is bad for you.
dunno. that's just what i learnt in science my science classes (which is why you get the shakes when you stop using). Obviously i'm not doubting your stories. plus have you seen the boat and the teeth on the bird from breaking bad (how i imagine most regular users look seeing thats all im exposed to). That should be a crime against humanity itself
Smoked it once or twice back when I was in the music biz. I could see how you could get very easily hooked on that ****, so never touched it again!
Yeah you're lucky you just know what most know.....not a lot. Since I was 11 I've either been involved in daily drug use or worked with daily drug users so I'm fairly qualified on this (approx 30 years) I'd rather know **** all about it..... like you
Yeah, true. But I’d still rate it far more addictive than booze. It’s an incredible high, and like I say, you could get hooked very easily if you carried on.
Bad teeth is usually due to methadone, the ****s full of sugar. Also the fact users don't take brushing their teeth seriously. The teeth isn't a direct result of heroin use... Methamphetamine will destroy your teeth though due to the household chemicals in it that you're smoking.
If it was readily available (like in shops) then yes. But stats clearly show far more people get addicted to alcohol than heroin. I preferred heroin myself, didn't have time to wait around for alcohol to hit me.
Yeah it's nasty, proper ****s you. I contracted hep c during my using (shared needles etc.) but did a 6 moth course of really strong treatment and I got totally cleared in 2005. That's the only damage that was done, as my liver count etc. is now perfect. That damage would have been avoided if I was more sensible too.
It's really not right looking at TV shows and stuff, the scummy toothless addicts still are the minority light/dark users really. They're just the ones you see.
I think they're similar addictions but a heroin dependency takes less time to build. If you drunk alcohol every day for a week you wouldn't be getting the blunt end of withdrawal on the 7th/8th day. Smack you would. When fully addicted though I wouldn't say drink is any easier to knock on the head. Oh and BobbyD you can get shakes/sweats on alcohol withdrawal too.
Equating alcohol addition with heroin is utter bollocks The majority of the adult population here drink alcohol at differing levels and only a very small percentage are either alcoholics or truly dependent Relatively few people take smack in comparison and the vast majority are hooked.
Like with most drugs, the drug itself isn’t the problem, it’s the circumstances that surround it that cause the problems. Most street drugs are cut with something because it means the dealers make more money and because of course the whole thing is completely unregulated. That means people don’t have a clue what **** they are ingesting, smoking, injecting etc. Then there is the fact that with serious drug use, usually comes an element of crime either petty theft, robbery or more serious assault. To fund the habit. Also drug dealing often goes hand in hand with other crimes along the same lines. Then there is the social deprivation aspect. Poverty, poor housing, poor parenting, unemployment, poor prospects etc. Lots of poor people end up in debt and drink and drugs is a temporary escape. I know I’m making generalisations here, but I’ve seen it all first hand and used to deal with the sharp end of the stick in the NHS, with people who were caught up in a life of poverty, crime and drugs. As has been mentioned already. The best thing to do is to decriminalise all drugs. License and regulate cannabis like they do with alcohol and set up treatment referral programmes for herion, barbiturate and their derivatives
Pixie's café has turned into a bit of a drug den. I'm not sure this is the kind of place I'd want to hang around in for two long.
The problem with smack.........is smack In the home of smack - Afghanistan, there’s an estimated 1m addicts out of a population of 35m. The issue is largely its mere availability.
