Lived in Copenhagen a few years ago, the drink of choice for 'occasions' always seemed to be Gammeldansk. An acquired taste...:emoticon-0149-no:

Got given a bottle of Vinglogg last weekend, and a bag of Gloggmix to go with it.

Gammeldansk is a bit of an acquired taste IMHO. Plenty of people in here drinking it on the side of a beer in here to be fair. I started with a G&T on the side but I've now moved onto Whisky. I need to pace myself really as it's only 15:14 here :emoticon-0102-bigsm

In Sweden we call it Glögg but they're all just mulled wine of course.In Sweden you usually serve it with a bottle of either Vodka or Cognac on the side so you can "spice it up" yourself.

I saw a post on FB this week with a recipe for Finish Glögg. (To paraphrase and translate....)

1, Take 10 liters of piss warm Koskenkorva (cheap Finnish Vodka),
2, Add one raisin,
3, After 5 minutes taste - if raisin flavour is too strong remove and add more vodka,
4, Serves 35 Swedes or 4 Finns.

Talk about a **** sandwich...

...a full festive programme was due to start with Edinburgh on Tuesday, with my daughter having her boy on Wednesday...

...but my boy has developed Sepsis (from a sport injury - he's 37 on Xmas eve) which has infected a heart valve. Prognosis is lots of test procedures and antibiotics ( he was rushed into Sunderland General on Thursday and moved to James Cook Uni Hospital - a fine hospital, but a bit of a trek), probable surgery on Thursday and hospitalised for at least 4-6 weeks. Oh well, fingers, legs, everything crossed and soldier on.

The lad had booked him and his, along with my other lass and her two with Fezess into Jack and the Beanstalk at Sunderland Empire (a lovely old theatre) - I've been roped in, it's my worse entertainment nightmare, screaming kids everywhere - if I hear someone say ' I didn't know beans could talk... here we go!!

Sunderland Empire's a gem Fez. Just stare at the walls and ignore what's going on around you.


Or better still nip across the road to The Dun Cow and stare at their walls.


Got some cracking walls Sunderland, like.
