Regarding Djiksteel, itonce again sums up the futility of this Regime. No sooner does an Academy player make 3-4 promising appearances for us and hey presto, a Rich Cawley puff piece appears in the Newshopper/Kent Live. I don't see that happening for Millwall or Palace Academy players, the other 2 sides the NS covers? Its a cynical game, and it happens with player after player at Charlton.
This is true, there are many Clubs that do a better job of retaining talent, longer than we do anyway, yet there's always been this reluctance amongst far too many Charlton fans, that there's nothing we can do about it.
That article must have been written at the CEO's request, to alert any club with a few bob to spare. I haven't seen Dijksteel, but if he's that good he should be playing more. Kashi is off form, Reeves only gets off his sick-bed now and then, Fosu injured. If he's going to be hawked around, at least put him in the shop window and let us poor Charlton fans have the pleasure of seeing him once or twice.
I have seen Djiksteel a couple of times this season including at Exeter, he is a tank and looks to have all the attributes. The Regime certainly has a very close relationship with our local paper, I bet the hospitality is good.
This shows how urgent it is for the take-over to happen, so that the club can get back it's ambition to compete at a high level, rather than minimise Roland's losses any which way we can.
It sounds as though Konsa had a shocker today. No real surprise that the lad has lost form - Robinson has all but placed him on E bay in his desperation to please Meire and flog him in January. Konsa is hardly likely to block tackle some hairy arsed League 1 Centre forward when Everton and £30,000 a week is just round the corner. We desperately need this “takeover” now, I can see our season going only one way
Charlton are interested in Luton Town striker Danny Hylton. The Hatters striker is League 2’s leading scoring this season. Would be an excellent signing if it happens - will the Belgians stump up the cash??
Like everything else associated with this regime, I don't believe a word of it. If it happens I'll give my opinion on it. Until it happens it's not worth taking seriously, they are so full of crap.
I have just watched a few of Hylton’s goals on You Tube. He would be the ideal foil for Big Josh. Hopefully they will use the Konsa cash to buy him.
Is Hylton available on a free in january? Charlton may well 'look' at him, but I doubt that Luton are going to offer him cheap in the january sales, and we all know how keen RD is to spend on a good day.
Fair point, but Hylton is 28 and you would think he would prefer to play for a bigger club (us) in a higher league. It’s just encouraging to hear that we are being linked with him
Certainly agree with that sentiment. It's just currently (and given how we managed our striking options in the summer, plus KR's tale of how he had to beg Murray to ask Duchatalet to sign Leon Best on a free), it's hard to imagine us signing anyone witjout first 'freeing up the wages' by letting two or three go. I'm hopeful of a takeover, but I have no expectations about the oncoming window.
Louis Moult is signing for Preston on 1 January, so that has put an end to that one. Confirmed by both clubs today. No further news or links to Luton striker Danny Hylton.
I'll be surprised if Roland spends a penny. Konsa's form is not good enough to justify the £5m tag that's getting bandied around, and even if we did get that much it would go to the same place as the Lookman money. If we come out of January with a weakened squad Robinson should resign, and keep his self-respect.
I think this is fanciful from Robinson. If Duchatelet is still in charge we will be selling not buying. https://www.londonnewsonline.co.uk/...-and-wants-to-ease-workload-on-josh-magennis/
Charlton boss Karl Robinson met two agents earlier in the week to discuss potential transfers in January. The Addicks board are keen that any strikers brought in are in-form – with the plan that they carry on scoring streaks. Robinson said: “It is the first transfer window I’ve gone into that I know who we want and what we need. I hope we can get a deal done in the next two weeks. It’s got to be sooner rather than later. We have been playing well but without a cutting edge and it is getting more and more obvious that it is a big strain on Josh. We all felt if he wasn’t playing that we were a lot weaker. We are looking for someone to play alongside him, someone to play instead of him and up against him. We need to bring in more firepower and we need to bring in goals. We also had a number of set-pieces which we were not ruthless from. We have got to find that cutting edge again." The Addicks board are really bright buttons aren't they? I never would have thought of buying an in-form striker hoping that he carries on streaking. Pure football genius.
