Nowt like a man city take over. And as Stoke palace and West Ham are showing isn't really a thing, any team of around 15 can find themselves in relegation battles regardless of amount spent and on paper quality of players brought in. The mags themselves have been relegated twice with much better squads. They're just not going to spend enough money to elevate them where they want/think. 100m will not plug all their weaknesses. It will give them a better chance of staying up no doubt and they'll be in better shape but it's not going to catapult em to greatness.
Wait till Lennon:emoticon-0172-mooni rips Manquillo a new arse

Yeah, if only eh.

If the FA never come calling, we'd more than likely be plodding along canny in the Premier league, under him.

I console myself by saying that he'd have walked after being told we were going to have to sell our best players and hand him a budget of a couple of mil, he wouldn't have stood for that.

But yeah who knows, finances aside we were so close to something and it's still painful to think of.

Even that wasn't much of a sticking point for him. 15 million for Khazri, Kone and Kirchoff. The way he had them playing. If we had given him the 35 million that Moyes got, we would have well and truly kicked on.

I couldn’t agree more.

Sam had targets including a striker who escapes me now who was perfect as an option to Defoe.

More than that, the players that we had were responding to him, and its easy to forget now, but Kone was outstanding under Sam.

I was always a Jan man myself, and I still say he's the best midfielder I've ever seen at Sunderland. I've never known us to control games consistently in midfield, but that's what he did. He made it look so easy, he was imposing with his height, and the way he broke up play and sprayed the ball about was a pleasure to watch. He always seemed to have all the time in the world and made it look so easy. Sam could keep him fit too. Fantastic player.

Such a shame. Still without a club says it all.

You’re right, he was a graceful bastard he played like he was having an afternoon stroll. Hamburg have offered him a deal if he can get fit but looks like he may have given up on it.

Such a shame, Bayern paid fortunes for him expecting him to be first XI. Says it all. Bayern first XI is an absolutely incredible standard. They thought he was potentially a world class player, and we seen that in bits, the derby that ended 1-1, we were walking it till he went off, I have rarely seen one man completely and utterly boss, stop and dismantle the opposition every time they had the ball or tried to come at us.

I never seen him have a bad game, either. His debut was supposed to be a stinker against Tottenham, but I was over in the Netherlands so I missed that one.

He's always been a crock, and unfortunately, he always will be. Sam got around that though with his methods, I'd probably say that had Sam stayed, I think Jan might have actually been mainly kept fit. Obviously that's down to SA though.

Aye possibly. Actually you jogged my memory of him googled and seems Hannover considered a deal then left it, he’s been training at a football camp but seems no prospect of a deal.

The brain ticks over and thinks would he take a pay as you play and come back, or is that just romance.

We can’t carry a crock but **** me could we use his ability.
