According to transfermarkt (no idea how reliable this is) Pied can also play right and left midfield but nothing about left back. His contract runs out in the summer as well so we need to extend that unless we have a youngster lined up for right back cover.
Can't think we'll extend Pied's contract*....though it may be a cheap option as a back up who won't kick up a fuss if he hardly plays. I'd rather give some experience to a youngster (if one exists that is good enough).

It is a long time since Shaw was here....he has had injuries, been unfit and not been selected much by his managers....apart from sentiment, I can't see why he would be high on our list. People seem to think that we can restore him to his former promise....but we aren't the same set up now either. He isn't a kid we can spend time on....he would need to be a fully formed player for us now. Have no objections if the club feel he fits our needs, but we will be doing it for ourselves not for the player's sake.

Regardless of all the chat about Shaw and his potential issues/problems/conditions, I am delighted for the lad tonight. I didn't watch but by all accounts he was MOTM. That should square a few doubts.
City have the money to be stupid, but in Mendy they have one of the top LB around and should be coming back Feb/Mar time, I think Delph has been a very good understudy, he has been caught out several times for pace, but has a great engine and has a great shot on him

I read the other day our complaint remains on file so Liverpool won't even inquire unless we invite them to do so.
Also read Liverpool are already looking at other CBs.
