At least Defoe shows for the ball and is always looking to get on it. He might not be as good at it as forwards who aren't tiny but the willingness is there. We are lucky to have Grabban's goals, but he's a frustrating figure at times whereas with Defoe the frustration was more our inability to get the ball up to him. He would never hide from it.
I think it's rich given our position and budget, You're not going to have a player at this level that doesn't have at least one glaring weakness in their game. Look at our level.
He doesn't frustrate me in the slightest, I'm grounded and grateful we've got a very good championship standard striker who's bagged 11 goals in 16 games. Because without him, we'd be dead and buried already, a dead cert to be relegated again with administration looking the most attractive way for Short to minimize his losses.
My frustrations lie with individual mistakes, not moaning about our borrowed prolific striker who is somehow managing to keep our head just above water. Cause that rug could be pulled from under us at which point we'd be hoping and praying for the future of our club that we can find a replacement capable of replacing his goals. Now is not the time to moan about his weakness, it's the time to appreciate his strengths, surely more than ever in light of his recall clause. God help us if he gets another injury or is recalled.
